'I couldn't work till 2017 because...': PM Modi in UP, slams SP 'parivaar-vaad' | UP Election 2022

With elections in Uttar Pradesh almost at the halfway point, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast fresh allegations against the Opposition Samajwadi Party.

Calling the SP's leaders 'parivaar-vaadi', or dynasts, the PM said that from 2014 to 2017, he did not get any cooperation from the UP government for development work in the state. Modi was elected Prime Minister in 2014, while the SP's government in UP lasted till 2017, before the BJP dislodged it.

PM Modi said that unlike Opposition parties, the BJP's governments, at both the state and central level, are not run by a family. He said that since the BJP's opponents are smelling defeat, they will try to spread caste and communal poison, but voters of the state must only keep one thing in mind when casting their ballot - the development of UP and the country.

Modi was addressing a rally in Hardoi. UP is voting in 7 phases till March 7, with results slated to be announced on March 10.
