A senior leader from Congress had described Priyanka's political skills saying, "She doesn't like addressing people from a distance. She doesn't like to be restricted and she is at her best when left amidst women." And rightly so! Whether it be increasing the involvement of women in the organisational set-up or her folk dance performances or getting down from her vehicle to join women on tractors or exhibiting her caring self when facing women in trouble, with her beaming smile she has won the admiration of women voters across the states. It was not just her endearing persona that Telangana banked upon but also her scathing attacks on the rival parties that resonated with the people of the state. From discarding KCR's claims of &lsquo;Bangaru Telangana&rsquo; to raising the issues of &lsquo;land, sand, wine and mine mafias&rsquo;, Priyanka drove the narrative in Telangana that became a new state when the United Progressive Alliance was in the centre in 2014. Apart from her political deftness, her resemblance to her grandmother Indira Gandhi rang a bell. In May, Priyanka had said, "You are calling me the new Indiramma, then trust me. I will not make false promises." Result showed her appeal stuck with locals when they voted on November 30.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed BJP's big win in the assembly polls as a victory for his government's agenda of self-reliant India, asserting that its hat-trick in the states is a guarantee of its hat-trick of Lok Sabha poll wins in 2024.
"The results show popular support for our battle against corruption," he told a crowd of cheering supporters at the BJP headquarters here, adding that they have served a lesson to the Congress and the opposition's INDIA bloc that mere collecting some dynasts on dais may make for a good photograph but cannot win people's confidence.

Sunday's announcement came a day after the party's Central Election Committee met to finalise candidates at the AICC office in New Delhi.

Congress on Sunday released a list of 144 candidates for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, fielding state unit president and former chief minister Kamal Nath from Chhindwara.
The ruling BJP has already announced candidates for 136 out of 230 assembly constituencies in the state.
The party has fielded Vikram Mastal from the Budhni constituency, the same seat where BJP has fielded Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The state will go to polls on November 17 while counting of votes will take place on December 3.

The counting of votes in Mizoram has finally begun in the state. The elections for the 40 assembly seats in Mizoram took place on November 7 and witnessed a tough competition between key players including the Mizo National Front (MNF), Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), Congress, and BJP.
The counting was supposed to happen on Sunday along with Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. However, it was deferred by the Election Commission following appeals by political parties, NGOs, churches and students' bodies as Sunday holds a special significance for the people of Mizoram, a Christian-majority state.
As per the exit polls projection, there is going to be a showdown between the regional heavyweights MNF and ZPM.&nbsp;
Mizoram is a Christian-majority state. Zoramthanga of the MNF became Chief Minister after the 1998 Assembly polls, ending Congress's 10-year rule. The MNF governed for a decade until Congress won in 2008 and 2013. Returning to power in 2018, MNF aims for another victory in the 40-member Assembly this year.

As BJP defeated Congress in Chhattisgarh, nine of the 13 state ministers who contested lost polls. Deputy CM TS Singhdeo lost the election by 94 votes.

Nine out of 13 ministers in the Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government in Chhattisgarh have suffered defeat in the state assembly polls.
They include Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo and home minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, both key leaders who were chief ministerial aspirants after the Congress&rsquo; thumping win in the 2018 polls, and state unit chief Deepak Baij.
Singh Deo, who polled 90,686 votes, lost from Ambikapur by 94 votes against BJP&rsquo;s Rajesh Agrawal (90,780 votes).
In Durg Rural seat, BJP candidate Lalit Chandrakar defeated Tamradhwaj Sahu by 16,642 votes.
Agriculture minister Ravindra Choubey lost by 5,196 votes in Saja against BJP&rsquo;s Ishwar Sahu.
In Kawardha seat, BJP&rsquo;s Vijay Sharma trounced minister Mohammad Akbar, another influential Congress leader, by 39,592 votes.
Other ministers who bit the dust are Shivkumar Dahariya (Arang), Guru Rudra Kumar (Nawagarh), Amarjeet Bhagat (Sitapur), Mohan Markam (Kondgaon) and Jai Singh Agrawal (Korba).
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel retained his seat Patan, while his cabinet colleagues Umesh Patel (Kharsia), Anila Bhendia (Dondi Lohara) and Kawasi Lakhma (Konta) managed to win their seats.
State Congress chief Deepak Baij lost in Chitrakot by a margin of 8,370 votes against BJP's Vinayak Goyal.
BJP defied exit poll predictions to register a massive victory in Chhattisgarh by winning 54 seats in the 90-member assembly and reducing the Congress to 35. The Gondwana Gantantra Party won one seat.
