This election is about those who are trying to destroy the constitution and democracy and those who are trying to save it. We do believe it is very important that once this fight, we look into the interests of the vast majority of people. and India is not run by few conglomerates and we are not a nation of monopoly.

The 2024 Lok Sabha election is about saving the Constitution and democracy, said Rahul Gandhi, after the Congress released its manifesto.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge unveiled the "NYAY Patra" in the presence of former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, with particular focus on welfare measures for the youth, women, farmers, labourers and the downtrodden.

"This election is about those who are trying to destroy the constitution and democracy and those who are trying to save it," Rahul Gandhi said in the media interaction that followed.

He said the Congress believes it's the government's responsibility to "look into the interests of the vast majority of people."

"India is not run by few conglomerates and we are not a nation of monopoly," Gandhi said.

The Congress manifesto promises justice, under five pillars, in a return to the basic principles of the Constitution.

Among congress' poll promises are the right to employment and skills training for the youth, reservation and monetary support for women, loan waivers and an MSP guarantee for the farmers, health benefits and higher wages for labourers, and a caste census and removal of the 50% reservation cap to ensure equal rights for the downtrodden.
