Meet Veerappan's daughter Vidhya Rani who is set to contest for Lok Sabha polls

The infamous sandalwood smuggler Veerappan's daughter Vidhya Rani is the candidate for the Krishnagiri Lok Sabha constituency. The 33-year-old daughter of Veerappan, Vidhya Rani, is all set to test her electoral fortunes as the nominee of Naam Tamizhar Katchi (NTK), a Tamil nationalist outfit.

Seeman, the chief of NTK announced on April 13 at a public rally in Chennai, "Her father protected the forests; she will now protect the (Tamil) race."

Who is Vidhya Rani?

Vidhya Rani is a lawyer by profession. She completed a five-year law course from a college in Bengaluru, runs a school in Krishnagiri, which has been her home for the last nine years.

Vidhya had met her father Veerappan only once when she was in third class at her grandfather's house in Gopinatham.

While speaking about it, she said, "That was the first and last time I met him. We spoke for 30 minutes, and the conversation is still fresh in my mind. He held me and asked me to pursue medicine and serve the people."

Earlier, in 2020, Vidhya joined BJP. However, she made the transition to NTK after watching Koose Munisamy Veerappan, a television series about her father.

Vidhya will contest against Congress candidate K Gopinath, who is a three-time Hosur MLA, C Narasimhan (BJP), and V Jayaprakash (AIADMK), in the April 19 Lok Sabha polls.
