Kangana Ranaut meets Dalai Lama, a year after sharing joke on the spiritual leader

Kangana Ranaut, the BJP candidate from Mandi, and former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jairam Thakur on April 15 arrived at the residence of the Dalai Lama in Mcleodganj. After meeting with the spiritual leader, Kangana said, 'It was an experience which I'll cherish all my life.'

Her meeting with Dalai Lama comes after a year she shared a joke on him that sparked controversy. In 2023, Kangana shared an edited photo of the US President's meeting with the Tibetan spiritual leader.

At that time, a video of Dalai Lama went viral which caused controversy online. In the video, Dalai Lama was seen kissing a young boy on the lips and asking him to 'suck his tongue.'

Soon after that, Kangana shared an edited picture of Dalai Lama with his tongue out an US President Joe Biden beside him, along with the caption, 'The Dalai Lama receives a warm welcome at the White House". Sharing the post, the actress wrote, "Dono ko same bimari hai, definitely dono ki dosti ho sakti hai (Both have the same illness, both can definitely be friends).'

Days after that, the Gangster actor took to her Instagram stories and shared a video of some Buddhists protesting outside her office. In the captions, she wrote, 'A group of Buddhist people doing dharma outside my office at Pali Hill. I didn't mean to hurt anyone, it was a harmless joke about Biden being friends with Dalai Lama, please don't misunderstand my intentions.'
