'Daydreaming' says Naveen Patnaik in response to Modi's 'June 4 expiry date' claim

In a a rare attack against Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said June 4 would be the Naveen Patnaik-led government's 'expiry date' in the state.

Modi was campaigning in Ganjam for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Odisha Assembly polls that are being held along with the Lok Sabha election.

The prime minister claimed that the Congress, followed by the BJD, looted Odisha for over seven decades, leaving the resource-rich state poor.

"Odisha has water, fertile land, minerals, a long coastline, history and culture. But why are the people of Odisha poor? The answer to this is loot, first by Congress leaders and then by BJD leaders," he said.

Modi said the people of Odisha have decided to vote the BJP to power. "June 4 is the BJD government's expiry date. The BJP the sun of new opportunities for Odisha," he said.

Soon after, the BJD posted a video in which Patnaik said, "The BJP is daydreaming about forming the government in Odisha."
