Banned in Tamil Nadu: parrot's political prediction lands soothsayer in a flap

A casual political prediction by a fortune teller’s parrot turned rather serious in Tamil Nadu when he was arrested for…well…believe it or not…for his parrot allegedly predicted PMK candidate’s win from Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore Lok Sabha seat.

Selvaraj was arrested on April 9 for keeping the endangered bird in captivity which is a crime under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. But several media reports claimed that Selvaraj was picked up by the police days after the PMK candidate Thankar Bachan posted a video of the parrot predicting his win in the upcoming Lok Sabha election on X.
