Social media's 'favourite' stars are sparring with Elon Musk and Donald Trump taking jibes at each other with the world's richest man asking Trump to hang his hat.

Writing on Twitter, where Elon Musk has more than 100 million followers, the celebrity CEO said: “I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Donald Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset. Dems should also call off the attack – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency.”

Musk's retort came after the Republican also the chief executive officer of Tesla for terminating his $44-billion deal to buy Twitter."Elon is not going to buy Twitter. Where did you hear that before? From me," Trump said. "He's another bullshit artist."

It wasn't that long ago that the Trump-Musk bromace was booming. In January 2020, Trump compared Musk to Thomas Edison, gushing that he's "one of our great geniuses ... and we want to cherish those people."

Last month, Musk also revealed that he was “leaning” toward voting for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, should he run for president in 2024.
