Mittal to be an Indian Musk? Bharti Group to launch satellites with ISRO

Launching the Indian Space Association (ISpA), Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the Govt will no longer be the controller but an enabler for the nation's space ambition. Taking the lead ISpA member and telecom pioneer Sunil Mittal announced Bharti's big bet on satellites.

Mittal stated that Bharti Group's subsidiary OneWeb will be the first private player to launch satellites from Indian soil through ISRO facilities. While addressing the Indian Space Association the Chairman for Bharti Enterprises said "OneWeb will be the first customer which starts to bring a commercial position into the Indian space market." OneWeb has 322 satellites in space at the present.

ISpA is a private industry body to help boost space technology in India. ISpA’s founding members include OneWeb, Bharti Airtel, Mapmyindia, Walchandnagar Industries, and Ananth Technology Limited among others
