Blinkit has permanently closed some of its' dark stores amid workers' strike

Blinkit, a quick commerce company owned by Zomato, has informed striking delivery workers that some of its Gurugram dark stores will be permanently closed due to ongoing work stoppages.

The message, communicated through the partner app in a mix of Hindi and English, expressed gratitude for the workers' past services but noted that the stores have been non-operational for the past 3-4 days despite discussions.

As a result, the company has decided to shut down these stores permanently and disable the workers' IDs.

Currently, only a few of the 31 dark stores catering to Blinkit in Gurugram are operational with additional security measures in place. Unlike traditional food delivery, the quick commerce model assigns gig workers to specific dark stores in neighborhoods for deliveries, rather than fetching orders from multiple restaurants across the city.
