Akasa Air crisis: Bombay HC allows action against pilots who quit

Akasa Crisis: The Bombay High Court on Wednesday has given Akasa Air permission to proceed against the pilots who allegedly quit the company without serving their notice period.

Justice SM Modak in his oral order has said that the company can approach the court in Mumbai. The airline had filed a suit against six pilots and have asked for a compensation of Rs 21 crore. It has also asked the court to direct the pilots to serve out their notice period

The pilots had earlier raised the issue of Jurisdiction and argued in court that they do not reside in Mumbai, and therefore the suit can’t be conducted in Mumbai.

Akasa Air risks shutting down

Akasa Air last week had told the Delhi High Court that the airline may shut down its operations as 43 pilots quit the airline without serving the required notice period. Akasa Air had accused Air India Express of poaching the pilots.
