'I've been insecure, I've tried to protect my performances...': Virat Kohli's pep talk for RCB women

A pep talk from Virat Kohli, the ex-RCB captain did wonders for the women's team who finally tasted success in their 6th game of the Women's Premier League season.

Kohli who was in Mumbai for the 1st ODI of the 3-match series against Australia motivated the women's team who were languishing at the bottom of the table after losing 5 consecutive games. Post which, the Smriti Mandhana-led side defeated UP Warriorz by 5 wickets.

In a video shared by RCB on their official Twitter handle, Kohli told the team that though he hasn't won the title for the franchise yet, he still feels that excitement every year.

Asking the team to keep their heads high, Kohli said that the 6th game was their real test.

'I've been playing for 15 years and I haven't won it yet but that doesn't stop me from being excited every year that's all I can do, that's the effort I can put into every game every tournament I play', he said.

Kohli who has been with the franchise for 15 years further revealed the insecurities that took over him after he failed to win any trophy and decided to give up on the captaincy too.

'The time that my captaincy tenure was coming to an end here, I was insecure, was protecting my performances. I was left with no belief to be very honest I was gone, the tank was absolutely empty but that was my own perspective, that was just me as an individual saying oh I have seen so much of this and I just can't manage it just can't handle it anymore but the next season new people came in they had new ideas there was another opportunity they were excited may be as an individual I wasn't as excited but they created the energy we reached 3 playoffs in a row and now we start every season with excitement and I feel excited now, the person who was not up to the mark' he added.
