White House condemns attack on former Pakistan PM Imran Khan

The United States condemned the attack on former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan during his protest march and said violence has no place in politics and America is deeply committed to a democratic and peaceful Pakistan.

US' statement comes amid Imran Khan's continued attack on the Joe Biden administration accusing it of carrying out a “regime change conspiracy" against him.

On the other hand, the US has time and again slammed Khan and has rejected his claims of toppling his regime through a no-confidence motion. US' state department's spokesperson Ned Price had dismissed Khan's charges calling them baseless.

Price had also asserted that the US won't let propoganda, misinformation or disinformation get in the way.

Earlier, Imran had cited independent foriegn policy as the reason for US not being happy with his government, resulting in his ouster.

While Khan had warm-ties with former US president Donald Trump, the cricketer-turned politician has been in a political tussle with Biden administration.

However, following the gun attack on Imran Khan, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement said, “The United States strongly condemns the shooting of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and others at a political rally. We wish Imran Khan and all others who were injured a quick and thorough recovery, and we offer our condolences to the family of the individual who was killed,”.
