A portion of railway tracks on a bridge in London burst into flames on Monday after timber beams overheated due to high temperatures in the city.

Steve White, the managing director of the Southeastern Railway shared a photograph of the burning tracks thanking the railway company and fire brigade for acting quickly.

The railway company Network Rail Southeast explained that the timber beams on the bridge caught fire as they are very dry and said it is possible that a stray spark ignited the fire.

Meanwhile, UK has issued an extreme heat warning as temperatures in parts of Britain exceeded 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit).

Londoners were heading to parks on Monday. While many people sheltered under trees to avoid the heat, others made the most of the sun to catch some rays.
