Amid the escalation of the India-Canada diplomatic row over the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Indian Ambassador to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, was prevented from entering a Gurudwara in Scotland.
According to a Times of India report, a group of radical Sikh activists prevented the Indian High Commissioner from entering the gurdwara, claiming that Indian officials are not welcome in any gurdwara in the UK due to recent tensions and targeting of British Sikhs.
Doraiswami, who is on an official trip to Scotland, was stopped outside the Glasgow Gurudwara on Albert Drive, where he reportedly had a meeting with members of the gurudwara committee.

'Zoo staff monitored the sea lion as she explored the area before returning to the familiar surroundings of the pool and the company of the other two sea lions', Jim Breheny, director of the Bronx Zoo and executive vice president of the Wildlife Conservation Society&rsquo;s Zoos and Aquarium, said in a statement.
The water has since receded and the animals are safe in their exhibit, he said.

Vikram Doraiswami was prevented from attending a meeting with the Glasgow Gurudwara committee members on Alberta Drive on Friday.
The incident came amid a massive diplomatic row between India and Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil.
The Scotland police were also informed of the incident, India Today said.&nbsp;

"India is a growing economic power and important geopolitical player. And as we presented with our Indo-Pacific strategy, just last year, we're very serious about building closer ties with India," he told reporters.
However, Trudeau also stressed that India needs to cooperate with Canada to investigate the allegations against it.
"At the same time, obviously, as a rule of law country, we need to emphasize that India needs to work with Canada to ensure that we get the full facts of this matter," he said.

After an Air India flight made an emergency landing in Russia due to an engine problem, the USA said that it is closely monitoring the situation.
Air India's flight from Delhi to San Francisco was diverted to Magadan in Russia on June 6, 2023, due to an engine glitch. The plane, carrying 216 passengers and 16 crew members, landed safely.
"We are aware of a US-bound flight that had to make an emergency landing in Russia and are continuing to monitor that situation closely. I'm not able to confirm how many US citizens were aboard the flight at this time," State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel told reporters at his daily news conference.

A video posted on X by Insightuk2, which describes itself as a social movement of British Hindus and Indians, claimed that some unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire at the car of Harman Singh Kapoor, adding that his family has been subjected to constant threats of violence and rape by alleged Khalistan supporters.
However, there has been no formal statement from the UK police on these claims.
Notably, the claims came to the fore on the very day elements from outside Scotland deliberately disrupted a planned interaction organised for the Indian High Commissioner, Vikram Doraiswami.
&ldquo;They were threatened and abused by these elements. In an effort to prevent any potential altercation, the HC and CG decided to leave the premises shortly upon their arrival,&rdquo; India&rsquo;s High Commission to UK said in a statement.

United Kingdom Minister of State for the Indo-Pacific Anne-Marie Trevelyan on Saturday said that she was "concerned" to see that the Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami was stopped from meeting the Gurudwara Committee in Glasgow.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Trevelyan said that the security and safety of foreign places is of utmost importance and places of worship in the United Kingdom should be open to all.
Anne-Marie Trevelyan said, "Concerned to see that the Indian High Commissioner @VDoraiswami was stopped from meeting with the Gurudwara Committee at the Gurudwara in Glasgow. The safety and security of foreign diplomats is of utmost importance and our places of worship in the UK must be open to all."
Earlier today, India&rsquo;s High Commission in London said it has reported to authorities in the UK the <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/disgraceful-india-s-high-commission-to-uk-after-diplomat-stopped-at-gurudwara-1696087661796">"disgraceful incident"</a> at the Glasgow Gurudwara where elements from outside Scotland &ldquo;deliberately disrupted&rdquo; a planned interaction organised for the High Commissioner and Consul General of India.
In order to prevent any potential altercation, India's High Commissioner and Consul General decided to leave the premises shortly after his arrival, according to the statement released by India's High Commission in London.
"On September 29, 2023, three persons-- all from areas outside Scotland--deliberately disrupted a planned interaction organized by the Gurudwara Committee for the community, the High Commissioner and the Consul General of India. This interaction was to discuss community and consular issues," India's High Commission in London statement read.
It further said, "The organizers included senior community leaders, ladies and Committee members, and a member of Scottish Parliament. They were threatened and abused by these elements. In an effort to prevent any potential altercation, the HC and CG decided to leave the premises shortly upon their arrival."

The High Commission of India in London said that three persons deliberately disrupted a planned interaction organized by the Gurudwara Committee for the community.
"On September 29, 2023, three persons-- all from areas outside Scotland--deliberately disrupted a planned interaction organized by the Gurudwara Committee for the community, the High Commissioner and the Consul General of India. The organizers included senior community leaders, ladies and Committee members, and a member of the Scottish Parliament. They were threatened and abused by these elements. In an effort to prevent any potential altercation, the HC and CG decided to leave the premises shortly upon their arrival," said the statement.
As per the statement, one of the non-local extremist elements attempted to violently force open the diplomat's car door but the organisers intervened.
"One of the non-local extremist elements attempted to violently force open the HC's car door - a matter that will require suitable police consideration. It is due to the quick reaction of one of the organizers, who physically intervened at the car door, that a bigger incident was avoided. Multiple community organizations including the organizers have formally regretted the incident and have urged the authorities to take action against the culprits," added Indian High Commission to London.
