Ukraine War: Russia announces humanitarian ceasefire in Ukraine for Wednesday

On the 14th day of its invasion, Russia has announced a humanitarian ceasefire for Wednesday for the evacuation of the civilians population, reports said.

Russia has declared a "silence mode" and is ready to provide humanitarian corridors in a number of Ukrainian cities, including the Capital Kyiv, Sputnik news agency has reported.

The announcement has come as both sides have blamed each other of disrupting humanitarian corridors. The Russia military has said that they are ready to facilitate safe corridors in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Mariupol and Zaporizhzhia.

Russia has been relentlessly bombing several big cities of Ukraine for days. Kyiv has accused Moscow of targeting residential buildings, schools and hospitals.

Earlier on Tuesday, civilian evacuations took place in the town of Sumy and places outside Kyiv.

The UN has said that over 2 million Ukrainians have fled the country in two weeks since the Russian invasion.
