PM Modi likely to visit White House in February, says US President Trump

US President Donald Trump has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the White House in February for a bilateral meeting. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday, Trump confirmed his conversation with Modi earlier that morning, describing their relationship as "very good."

"I had a long talk with him this morning. He is going to be coming to the White House next month, probably February. We have a very good relationship with India," Trump said, adding that "everything came up" during their discussion.

The two leaders share a strong rapport, having addressed massive rallies together, including the 'Howdy, Modi!' event in Houston in September 2019 and the 'Namaste Trump' rally in Ahmedabad in February 2020.

Trump’s last foreign visit during his first presidential term was to India, further underscoring the importance of US-India ties. Prime Minister Modi was also among the first three world leaders to congratulate Trump on his re-election victory in November 2024.

The upcoming meeting is expected to build on their shared vision of strengthening the US-India partnership, focusing on areas such as trade, technology, and global security. The White House has yet to release official details about the agenda for Modi’s visit.
