NASA's Webb detects carbon dioxide on Jupiter's icy moon-Europa

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has made a key finding by detecting the presence of carbon dioxide on Europa, one of Jupiter's icy moons.

As per NASA, the astronomers used JWST findings and pinpointed the existence of carbon dioxide in a specific region on Europa's frozen surface.

As reported by Space.com, the research team was able to determine the origin of the carbon molecules on the frozen surface by using the observations in the infrared spectrum using the JWST's Near-Infrared Spectrograph (NIRSpec) instrument.

It concluded that carbon molecules did not originate from meteorite impacts or other external sources.
