With the temperatures dipping as low as -34 degrees Celsius, this is Afghanistan's coldest winter in 15 years, Reuters reported. 

Over 160 people have died from extreme cold in Afghanistan this month, the Reuters reported quoting Taliban officials.

Shafiullah Rahimi, a spokesperson for the Minister of Disaster Management, said that 162 people have died due to freezing temperatures since January 10, with 84 deaths being reported in the last week.

With the temperatures dipping as low as -34 degrees Celsius, this is Afghanistan's coldest winter in 15 years, Reuters reported.
