Malala Yousafzai calls for immediate ceasefire in Israel and Palestine, internet users react

Malala Yousafzai has released a statement on the Israel-Palestine war and called for an immediate ceasefire.

Malala also said that she witnessed violence and terrorism when she was 11 years old. She said they used to get up to the sounds of mortar shells and saw their schools and mosques getting destroyed by bombs. Eventually, peace became something that they could just dream about, she added.

Malala emphasised how war is not good and it never spares children, not those kidnapped from their homes in Israel, not those hiding from airstrikes or without food and water in Gaza.

The activist concluded by saying that she is grieving for all the children and people longing for peace and justice in the Holy Land. However, her statement did not go down well with social media users and they criticised Malala for not taking a side.

Several internet users reacted by saying that she should pick a side. Others said that if she is refusing to take a side then she is actually on the side of the oppressor.
