New York, September 25 (PTI) — External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar conducted a series of bilateral meetings with counterparts from Mexico, Cyprus, and various Pacific Island nations during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, underscoring India's dedication to strengthening global relationships.

In a series of social media updates, Jaishankar shared his meeting with Juan Ramon de la Fuente, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, noting that both parties agreed to build on recent interactions and create a new roadmap to enhance bilateral relations.

Additionally, Jaishankar engaged with Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, where the two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral relations since Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Cyprus earlier this year.

“I appreciate his insights on developments in Europe. We reaffirmed support for a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the Cyprus Question in line with the agreed UN framework and relevant UNSC resolutions,” Jaishankar stated, expressing anticipation for welcoming Kombos to India soon.

On the sidelines of the FIPIC (Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation) Foreign Ministers' Meeting held on Wednesday, the External Affairs Minister also met leaders from several Pacific nations.

He held warm discussions with Foreign Minister Kalani Kaneko of the Marshall Islands, Foreign Minister Paulson Panapa of Tuvalu, and Minister of State Gustav Aitaro of Palau, reinforcing India's commitment to engaging with the Pacific region.

Furthermore, Jaishankar conversed with Foreign Minister Peter Shanel Agovaka of the Solomon Islands and had a meaningful discussion with Prime Minister Dr. Aisake Valu Eke of Tonga.
