Ex-wife relieved after Imran Khan escapes 'near assassination'

Imran Khan's former wife Jemima Goldsmith expressed relief over his safety.

Taking to Twitter, Jemima wrote, "Thank God he’s okay. And thank you from his sons to the heroic man in the crowd who tackled the gunman."

She also shared that their sons were thankful to the man who tackled the attacker.

Meanwhile, Khan has vowed that he will continue his political struggle to press the government to call for an early election.

The former Pakistan Prime Minister was attacked on Thursday during his long march, hours ahead of reaching his next destination Islamabad.

He received a bullet injury in leg after the gunman fired on the containter-mounted truck being used by Khan during the rally.

The former Pakistan prime minister was out of danger in what his party claimed was an "assassination attempt."

The incident occurred near Allahwala Chowk of Wazirabad town in Punjab when 70-year-old Khan was leading the long march to Islamabad demanding early elections.
