A major rail tragedy was averted in the European country of Austria on June 7, 2023.

A train caught fire while travelling through a tunnel near the city of Innsbruck.

Around 200 passengers were evacuated. 45 people suffered minor injuries, likely from smoke inhalation.

The train was travelling from Hamburg to Amsterdam and was also carrying cars. Some of the cars may have caught fire from a damaged cable.
