Climate change: Some impacts 'irreversible', 3 billion people at risk, warns UN report

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report warned that the world faces unavoidable multiple climate hazards over the next two decades with global warming of 1.5°C

A new UN report on Climate Change has warned of grave, wide-ranging and in some cases "irreversible" impacts.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report released on Monday warned that the world faces unavoidable multiple climate hazards over the next two decades with global warming of 1.5°C.

The UN report has noted that human-induced climate change is causing dangerous and widespread disruption in nature and affecting the lives of billions around the world.

This critically important UN report has been authored by 270 scientists from 67 countries and has been approved by 195 governments. It has stated that worsening climate impacts are wreaking havoc in every part of the world and are affecting every living thing on the planet – humans, animals, plants, entire ecosystems.

The report sounded a strong warning that much bolder action is needed immediately to cut greenhouse gas emissions as well as to adapt to the increasing climate impacts and protect the most vulnerable.
