'Can't accept any more refugees': Warsaw mayor as more Ukrainians head to Poland

As more Ukrainians flee the war in their own country and cross over into Poland to seek refuge, the mayor of Warsaw has said that the city cannot accept any more refugees.

Rafal Trzaskowski, the mayor of the Polish capital, in an interview to Indian Express said that the city has reached its capacity and if there is another wave of refugee influx, Europe and US will have to step in to help.

Trzaskowski said that over 2 million Ukrainian refugees have come to Poland since the Russian invasion on February 24, and out of them 3,00,000 are in Warsaw.

He said his administration faces three main challenges. First, they need to help the refugees with food and accommodation. Second challenge is to ensure registration of the refugees and distribution of financial aid to them, Trzaskowski told Indian Express. Third challenge, he added, is to provide them with good education and jobs since Ukrainian refugees have been granted the same rights as Polish citizens.
