'400 seconds to Tel Aviv': Iran threatens Israel as it shows off new missile

Iran unveiled 'Fattah', its new hypersonic missile capable of travelling at 15 times the speed of sound on June 6. Along with the unveiling billboards went up on the streets of Tehran with a message for Israel.

The billboard with a picture of the Fattah missile carries a message in Hebrew and Arabic saying '400 seconds to Tel Aviv'. The posters are in line with claims of Iranian generals that the missile can reach the Israeli capital in 400 seconds.

Iran has claimed that Fattah can bypass the most advanced anti-ballistic missile systems including Israel’s Iron Dome.

Hypersonic weapons, which fly at speeds in excess of Mach 5, or five times the speed of sound, could pose crucial challenges to missile defence systems because of their speed and manoeuvrability.

Unlike conventional ballistic missiles, hypersonic ones fly on a trajectory low in the atmosphere, enabling them to reach their targets more quickly and with less chance of being intercepted by modern air defences.
