Zomato has launched a new service called Zomato every day, offering home-style food cooked by real home chefs starting at just ₹89. The service aims to cater primarily to individuals who are away from home and don't have easy access to home-cooked meals. Zomato's food partners will collaborate with home chefs to provide quick and wholesome food at the best prices within minutes. Customers can browse the menu, customise their meals and have their food delivered to their doorstep.
Zomato every day is currently available in select areas of Gurgaon. However, it is unclear how the company plans to maintain the quality of home-cooked food. The company also has a section called Healthy that offers curated food prepared by restaurants, with pricing similar to restaurant food.

From layoffs to exit of co-founder, food delivery platform Zomato has already been facing tough times. As this was not enough, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group plans to sell around 3 per cent stake in Zomato for $200 million in a block deal.
The block deal comes months after the one-year lock-in-period for pre-IPO shareholders of Zomato ended on 23 June , 2022.
According to reports, post the deal, Alibaba will continue to hold about 10% stake in the food delivery giant.
Zomato, which raised ₹9,375 crore through an IPO on 23 July last year, has fallen more than 55% in 2022, even as the food giant witnessed sharp revenue growth in recent quarters.

A fresh incident of a physical fight at a housing society in Uttar Pradesh's Noida emerged on 9 October 2022. In the latest incident, a Zomato food delivery executive, and a security guard at the housing society engaged in a physical altercation.
The incident reportedly occurred at Gardenia society in Noida's Sector-46. The fight broke out between Zomato executive Sabi Singh and security guard Ram Vinay Sharma over the former's entry into housing complex. After a verbal stand-off, the delivery person allegedly pushed, punched, and kicked the security guard, as per reports.
The guard retaliated, and subsequently, both started hitting each other with sticks. Eventually, the delivery person was seen lying on the ground as some people tried to help him.
Both the guard and the Zomato executive were reportedly arrested by Noida police.
The incident came a day after a video went viral of some women allegedly heckling a security guard at Ajnara society in Noida. A woman held the guard by the collar of his shirt, and also threw away his cap.

A LinkedIn user Vinayak Rajanahally shares two images of the same bill that the user has to pay if he gets it delivered by food delivery apps like Swiggy or Zomata and in the second case getting the food being picked up by himself from the restaurant. 
According to the images posted by the LinkedIn user, the pricing of the food items if delivered online was being shown at ₹823 on Swiggy and ₹785 on Zomato but only ₹440 when the same was taken in offline mode.
He further added, ''today, user behavior is such, we don’t think twice to order food online, assuming it would be just 10 to 20% higher than normal, which is OK to pay for convenience. It was an eventful week for Zomato shares on the stock exchanges. While the foodtech startup’s shares have been on a downward spiral ever since it announced acquisition of Blinkit in June, the stock witnessed massive selling this week as the lock-in period for its pre-IPO investors ended.

As Zomato's shares hit all-time low, and ended over 12% lower in one week, the company's founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal announced that it is moving to a multiple-CEO structure. 

Goyal explained that Eternal is a mission statement in itself, as it means forever, something that will last for more than just a few lifetimes.

A bizarre incident has been reported where a man dressed up as a Zomato delivery executive to get a job in Bengaluru.
The man is identified as Aman Khandelwal, he is looking for a job as a management trainee. Aman as a Zomato delivery agent delivers his resume in the boxes of pastries to the Bengaluru startups. Each pastry box contains a note of "Most of the resumes end up in the trash but mine in your belly."

Several twitter users did point out that it is not an original idea and that it has been done before but Digital Gurukul Metaversity, a digital institute offering marketing courses, was so impressed by his effort that they offered him a scholarship for one of their programmes and an internship.&nbsp;

Two men here have been arrested for allegedly beating up and spitting on a delivery boy when they found he was a Dalit, police here said on Tuesday.
The accused refused to take orders from the man and hurled casteist slurs at him, police said.
The incident took place Saturday night at Sector H of Aashiyana locality, when Vineet Kumar Rawat went to deliver a food order there, police said.
According to the complaint filed by Rawat, when he reached the house with the order, a man came out of the house and asked for his name, when he told him that, he hurled a volley of casteist remarks at him, a police officer said.
Rawat alleged that the man refused to cancel the order, spat tobacco juice on his face, and then thrashed him, the officer said.
Ajay Singh, and Vivek Shukla, his servant, have been arrested in connection with the matter, Aashiyana Police Station SHO Deepak Kumar Pandey said.
Besides the two, police have booked 12 other unidentified men, he said.

Another incident of brutal violence has been reported in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow, where a Zomato food delivery man named Vineet Kumar was brutally thrashed and abused by a group of people over a prejudice issue.
The situation was averted when Vineet went to deliver an order to the customer's house who then asked his name, on hearing his name customer refused to take the order from the hands of an 'untouchable' said Vineet.
Vineet also told the customer to cancel the order if he don't want to accept it but instead of this another 10-12 people came out of his house and started beating him, they also took Vineet's motorbike.
Police filed an FIR against them and will verify the CCTV footages of an area. Police also help Vineet to get back his motorbike. 

Zomato delivery boy allegedly thrashed, customer claim 'will not accept order from an untouchable'

Reports said on hearing Vineet's name, the accused customer refused to take the order from the hands, saying Vineet was an 'untouchable'.

A delivery boy was allegedly thrashed by a group of men in Uttar Pradesh's captial Lucknow after a customer refused to take food from his hands owing to the caste he belongs to.&nbsp; The Zomato delivery boy Vineet Kumar went to deliver an order to the customer's house who then asked his name. Reports said on hearing Vineet's name, the accused customer refused to take the order from the hands, saying Vineet was an 'untouchable', a derogatory term used for people belonging to Dalit castes.&nbsp;
In reponse, Vineet told the customer to cancel the order if he didn't want to accept the order. But reports said instead of returning the food, a group of 10-12 people who were in the house came out and started beating Vineet. The attackers also took Vineet's motorbike.
Police filed an FIR and will verify the CCTV footages of the area where the customer's house is located.&nbsp;

On the other hand, right before the startup went public on July 21, 2021, Deepinder was granted employee stock options ESOPs worth Rs 700 crore by the investors/ board “basis of his past performance”. 
On May 6, 2022, Deepinder had announced that he will be donating all his ESOP proceeds worth Rs 700 crore to the Zomato Future Foundation (ZFF) to offer free education for delivery partners’ children and more.

Zomato’s consolidated net loss for the quarter ended March widened to Rs 360 crore compared to Rs 134.2 crore at the same time last year. Revenue from operations were at Rs 1,211.8 crore, up 75.01 per cent compared to Rs 692.4 crore in the same quarter last year.
Since the start of the year, the stock was under pressure and declined nearly 65 per cent as fall in global equity markets amid expected tightening by global central banks.

Morgan Stanley with an overweight call has a price target of Rs 135/share and Rs 130/share respectively.
