The early ramp-in phase of our hybrid work pilot has been a great opportunity to come together, reconnect with our teams, and meet new colleagues in person. This has been a transition for many of us as we’ve navigated changing case rates in many parts of the world, so thank you for your teamwork and professionalism as we continue moving forward.
I’m writing to you today with two updates, one about changes we’re making to our hybrid pilot, the other about its timing.
When we announced the pilot a year ago, we said it would be a learning experience for us all. And we committed ourselves to adapting along the way to create a flexible environment that enables our teams to thrive. Based on the feedback and insights we’ve received from you and your managers, we are making the following adjustment:
Teams participating in the pilot will come to the office three days each week with Tuesday and Thursday as set days across the company, but now the third day you come in will be decided by your teams. Each team will work through the decision about which day is right for them, and you’ll hear from your leaders soon. As before, many employees will have the option of working remotely two days a week. Depending on your role, you will also have the option to work remotely for up to four weeks a year.
We are excited to move forward with the pilot and believe that this revised framework will enhance our ability to work flexibly, while preserving the in-person collaboration that is so essential to our culture. We also know that we still have a lot to learn. And we are committed to listening, adapting, and growing together in the weeks and months ahead.
In terms of timing, many locations around the world are in different phases and you will hear more details shortly. For Santa Clara Valley, we plan to begin our new adjusted pilot with all employees in the office three days beginning the week of September 5th.
In the near term, we will continue to navigate the pandemic together as the situation evolves. We are monitoring the data closely and you will continue to receive updates on health and safety protocols for your location as necessary from our COVID-19 Response Team. In the meantime, it’s encouraging that children under five years old are now eligible for vaccination in many countries, and I urge anyone who is able to get a vaccine or a booster to do so if you haven’t already.
As we continue on this journey, I want to say how grateful I am for everything you do. I’ve never been more excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, the impact we can have on the lives we touch, and the outstanding team that makes it all possible. In March, Google plans to &ldquo;help folks transition to their new routines&rdquo; in preparation for &ldquo;our hybrid working approach.

The silicon valley firm&nbsp;will end the voluntary work-from-home period and have employees transition to a "hybrid" routine. The company expects most workers to split between three days of in-person work and two days of operating remotely.
Google however&nbsp; said company will be testing new ways of working and will &ldquo;gather insights, data, and feedback along the way.&rdquo;
All eyes now move to Apple who has been 'keenest' to get the workforce back to the HQ at 1 Infinite Loop,&nbsp;Apple Park.&nbsp;Back in November, Apple told employees that it wanted them to return to their offices starting in February, but with the Omicron surge in December, Apple&nbsp;delayed the return indefinitely.

Research has shown that for more than two-thirds of participants, the benefits of vacation wear off in just a couple&nbsp;of days after returning to work. As we face a constant cycle of bad news on all fronts, high-personal&nbsp;stress&nbsp;levels result in angry e-mails and messages, poor collaboration and reduced&nbsp;productivity&nbsp;at work.
<h3>The need for a trauma-informed workplace&nbsp;</h3>
To combat this,&nbsp;employers need to&nbsp;create&nbsp;a &lsquo;trauma-informed&rsquo; work environment.&nbsp;Trauma training is standard practice&nbsp;for first-respondent&nbsp;professions but it might be time to extend this to all workers.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Just recently, a content moderator sued employer&nbsp;TikTok&nbsp;for &lsquo;severe psychological trauma&rsquo; on the job. This goes to show&nbsp;that our understanding of trauma needs to be broadened.&nbsp;&nbsp;
With&nbsp;7 in 10 employees reporting the pandemic to be the most stressful time of their entire professional career (Ginger Workforce Attitudes Report 2020),&nbsp;organisations can thrive only by learning from the models of trauma-informed organizations and trauma-informed leadership used in care professions.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Both leaderships and individual workers need to prioritise and promote inclusive behaviours, trust and transparency, peer support, collaboration, empowerment&nbsp;of&nbsp;choice&nbsp;and diversity awareness as part of the company culture.

The wife of one of Harsh Goenka&rsquo;s employees in her letter to the businessman complained that their marriage will end if the work from situation continues.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced companies across the world to migrate to the work-from-home model but not everyone &nbsp;has been able to adjust to this new norm.
Going by a letter shared by Goenka, the wife of one of his employees is utterly frustrated with remote working and has sought the business tycoon's support to get her &ldquo;sanity&rdquo; back.
In her note, the woman narrated how her husband who is currently working from home &lsquo;drinks coffee ten times a day and switches between different rooms during work and leaves them all in a mess&rsquo;. Add to that he &ldquo;constantly asks for food&rdquo;.

Going by a letter shared by Goenka, the wife of one of his employees is utterly frustrated with remote working and has sought the business tycoon's support to get her &ldquo;sanity&rdquo; back.
In her note, the woman narrated how her husband who is currently working from home &lsquo;drinks coffee ten times a day and switches between different rooms during work and leaves them all in a mess&rsquo;. Add to that he &ldquo;constantly asks for food&rdquo;.
The note has apparently bewildered Goenka, who said &lsquo;he doesn&rsquo;t know how to respond to her&rsquo;.
The tweet has caused a lot of buzz among social media users.
