Director Luv Ranjan, whose film &lsquo;Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar&rsquo; is doing well at the box office, has revealed that the film's lead actor Ranbir Kapoor has still not charged money from him for the movie. In a new interview, he also said that in the last four years, Ranbir hasn&rsquo;t 'failed' him. Ranbir also praised Luv by saying that he 'put his life on the line' to make the romantic comedy.
Speaking with NDTV India, Ranbir Kapoor said, &lsquo;I know when he made this film, he used no deceit. He put his life on the line and I respect that. I have heard that when my grandfather made films, houses would be mortgaged and my grandmother&rsquo;s jewellery was mortgaged. But that kind of putting your skin in the game, that level of madness to make movies, I always respect that. I feel this will be fun now because someone has put their life on the line to make a film. It sounds crazy to do all this for a film but there is respect too.&rsquo;
Reacting to Ranbir, Luv said, &lsquo;I didn&rsquo;t know we were going to be this honest in this interview but since we are, I will say this. He has still not taken his money from me. There is a time in your life when you have to tell the other person that I am in need of this thing right now. So, in the last four years, he hasn&rsquo;t failed me.&rsquo;
&lsquo;Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar&rsquo; marks the first on-screen collaboration between Ranbir and Shraddha. The movie also stars Dimple Kapadia, Boney Kapoor, and Anubhav Singh Bassi. According to film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has earned ₹ 76.29 crore so far.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor, whose upcoming film &lsquo;Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar&rsquo; is scheduled to release on March 8, was in Kolkata recently to promote his romantic comedy. According to news agency PTI, at a promotional event in the city, the actor dismissed boycott Bollywood calls on social media as baseless.
&lsquo;If you ask me about any call about 'boycott Bollywood', I really find that baseless. There are so many negative things coming post-pandemic. Films are made for entertainment purposes, we are not saving the world. So audiences come to theatres to forget worries. They come to watch films on big screen, to have a good time. I just don't know (comprehend) the boycott thing,&rsquo; he told reporters.
Most recently, Shah Rukh Khan's &lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo; faced boycott calls over the costumes worn by Deepika Padukone in the song &lsquo;Besharam Rang&rsquo;.
When asked about the blockbuster performance of &lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo; that has earned over Rs 1,000 crore at the box office, Ranbir said the spy drama's success has given a boost to the Hindi film industry.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor is busy promoting his forthcoming film &lsquo;Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar&rsquo;. He visited Kolkata on Sunday to promote the film and during a press meet confirmed that he is working on the biopic of late singer-actor Kishore Kumar.
At the event, he was also asked if he has been roped in for a biopic on cricketer Sourav Ganguly. Ranbir said, &lsquo;I think dada (Sourav Ganguly) is a living legend not just in India, but around the world. A biopic on him will be very special. Unfortunately, mujhe yeh film offer nahi huyi hai (I have not been offered this film). I think the makers at Luv Films are still writing the script.&rsquo;
The &lsquo;Brahmastra&rsquo; actor then talked about being part of the biopic of Kishore Kumar, and said, &lsquo;Main 11 saal se Kishore Kumar ke biopic pe kaam kar raha hoon (I have been working on Kishore Kumar&rsquo;s biopic for 11 years). We have been writing that with Anurag Basu and I&rsquo;m hoping that it&rsquo;s gonna be my next biopic. But maine abhi tak dada k upar jo biopic ban rahi hai uske baare mein kuch suna nahi hai (But so far I haven&rsquo;t heard anything about the biopic being made on dada). So, I don&rsquo;t know.&rsquo;

Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's chemistry is being loved by the audience ever since the teaser of 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' released. Recently, the first song of the movie 'Tere Pyaar Mein' was unveiled which received great response from the audience and now the second song from the film 'Pyaar Hota Kayi Baar Hai' is out.
Taking to Twitter, &nbsp;the makers wrote, &nbsp;'Iss Valentine Aansu mat bahao, Agli dhoondho'
This song is shot on a beautiful set and features Ranbir and his on-screen best friend Anubhav Singh Bassi. The song is choreographed by Bosco-Caeser and is composed by Pritam. The vocals are sung by Arijit Singh with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' also stars Boney Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles. It is directed by Luv Ranjan and is all set to hit the theatres worldwide on March 8.

The trailer of Luv Ranjan&rsquo;s &lsquo;Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar&rsquo;, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, was unveiled on January 23. Whereas, Shraddha is working with Luv Ranjan for the first time.
Shraddha also said, &lsquo;Everyone knows that Ranbir is such a fabulous actor and I always admired his work and to experience [this] on set with him bohut maaza aiya (we had a lot of fun) and he's really superb.&rsquo;
The filmmaker kept Ranbir and Shraddha apart at the event, saying people can see them together on the big screen.
&lsquo;Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar&rsquo; will mark Ranbir Kapoor&rsquo;s return to the romantic-comedy genre a decade after &lsquo;Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani&rsquo;. The upcoming film also stars Boney Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi in pivotal roles. The movie will hit the theatres on Holi, March 8.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor opened up on why he stayed away from the rom-com genre for a decade. At the trailer launch event, Ranbir said, &lsquo;Sometimes what happens is actors have very limited faces and personality. Sometimes you run out of them and you need characters.&rsquo;
Calling rom-com the hardest genre, he explained, &lsquo;When you give me a character like Sanju or Rockstar, you&rsquo;re hiding behind a character. There&rsquo;s a certain paraphernalia around you to work with. But these rom-com parts are very hard. I&rsquo;m just insecure that I don&rsquo;t run out of a personality, so I can still keep delivering some entertainment through the genre.&rsquo;
Ranbir Kapoor also appreciated writers Luv and Rahul for the film. He said, &lsquo;After Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani why didn&rsquo;t I do a another rom-com? Because it&rsquo;s the most difficult to make. Rom-coms tend to become slightly westernised. You shoot in New York so you feel you&rsquo;re making a rom-com. But rom-com is in the writing. Luv and Rahul both are extremely fine writers. There&rsquo;s no strategy behind it (not doing another rom-com) but if I had continued to do similar films then the excitement fades away.&rsquo;
The actor also recalled the time when he called up Luv Ranjan after watching &lsquo;Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2&rsquo; and asked him to collaborate with him for a movie. &lsquo;I called up Luv Ranjan after I saw Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. I loved the film and said I&rsquo;d love to collaborate with him on a movie. Later we met and brainstormed on ideas. We had even launched a movie with me and Ajay sir. Months later Luv narrated this idea to me and since then we have become good friends,&rsquo; he said.
Ranbir Kapoor has announced that &lsquo;Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar&rsquo; could be one of his last rom-coms. The film is set to release theatrically on Holi, i.e March 8.
