Vineet Nayyar who led Tech Mahindra during the critical acquisition of Satyam and oversaw the subsequent merger passed away at the age of 85. Industry leaders have been expressing their condolences for the loss.&nbsp;
Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra shared the news of the death of the former executive Vice Chairman of Tech Mahindra.&nbsp;
"It saddens me to share the news of the passing of Vineet Nayyar this morning," Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra posted on X

Anand Mahindra further wrote that he would personally be most grateful to Nayyar for his vision in exhorting the firm to establish the Mahindra University, on the campus of the erstwhile Satyam Computer.

Similarly former MD and CEO of Tech Mahindra, CP Gurnani also expressed his grief calling it heartbreaking and that India has lost one of its finest leaders. Gurnani also named Vineet Nayyar his Guru and wrote, "On #GuruPurab, I am reminded of none other than Vineet Nayyar, and the mentorship, partnership, and camaraderie I enjoyed through various milestones of our professional journey".
He further wrote that Vineet is a friend, guide, and a true visionary from whom he learnt patience, the importance of consensus management, and a laser focus on the bottom line

Nayyar was born in 1939 and had completed his master's in development economics from Williams College, Massachusetts. He started his career with the Indian Administrative Services, holding several senior positions including that of a District Magistrate, Haryana Agriculture Secretary and Director, Department Of Economic Affairs in the Central Government.
Vineet Nayyar was the founding Chairman &amp; Managing Director of state-run Gas Authority of India (GAIL). After moving to the private sector, he served as the Managing Director of HCL Corp and as the Vice Chairman of HCL Technologies.

Mohit Joshi, former-Infosys president joins Tech Mahindra as MD, CEO designate

Joshi will replace Gurnani who has been one of the longest-serving chief executive officers of the Indian IT sector.

IT company Tech Mahindra on Saturday announced the appointment of former Infosys president Mohit Joshi as MD and CEO designate, who will take over the charge from C P Gurnani after his retirement on December 19 this year.
The announcement follows the resignation of Joshi from Infosys where he was head of the global financial services and healthcare and the software businesses, which included Finacle (Infosys' banking platform) and the artificial intelligence and automation portfolio.
"Mohit will take over as MD and CEO when C P Gurnani retires on 19th December 2023. He will join Tech Mahindra well before that date to allow for sufficient transition time," Tech Mahindra said in a statement.
Separately, Infosys in a regulatory filing said that Joshi has resigned from the company. He will be on leave effective from March 11, 2023 and his last date with the company would be June 9, 2023.
Joshi will replace Gurnani who has been one of the longest serving chief executive officers of the Indian IT sector.

In its annual report for the fiscal, <a href="https://www.editorji.com/business-news/leaders-discussion-microsofit-tech-mahindra-talk-about-india-s-digital-roadmap-1645020132321" target="_blank">Tech Mahindra</a>, India's fifth-largest IT exporter said Gurnani's remuneration, including salary, stock compensation benefits and post-employment benefits was Rs 21.9 crore in the year-ago period.

The median salary declined by 1.04 per cent during the fiscal.
Among Gurnani's peers, <a href="https://www.editorji.com/business-news/markets/stock-alert-tcs-q4-preview-earnings-today-1649655234845" target="_blank">TCS </a>chief Rajesh Gopinathan saw a 26 per cent rise in his compensation to Rs 25.75 crore in FY22, while Infosys' Salil Parekh witnessed a 43 per cent jump to Rs 71.02 crore.
