The Ministry of External Affairs announced the introduction of the mPassport Police App on Friday to streamline the police verification process for passport issuance. The Delhi Police Special Branch received 350 mobile tablets on Thursday that enable a paperless verification process and report submission, reducing verification time from 15 to 5 days. The Regional Passport Office (RPO) Delhi highlighted its commitment to efficient service delivery and Digital India on Friday through a tweet that discussed the app's benefits. &nbsp;

Philips layoffs&nbsp; Embattled Dutch medical tech maker Philips said on Monday it will slash 6,000 more jobs worldwide after fresh losses caused by a massive recall of faulty sleep respirators. Chief Executive Roy Jakobs announced the "difficult, but necessary further reduction of our workforce" by 2025, which comes just three months after it announced another 4,000 cuts.
The Amsterdam-based firm unveiled net losses of 105 million euros ($114 million) for the fourth quarter of 2022 and 1.605 billion euros for last year as a whole, largely due to the recall.
Philips announced a global recall in 2021 of its appliances to treat people suffering from sleep apnoea and now faces a number of lawsuits in the United States.
This followed concerns patients risked "possible toxic and carcinogenic effects" if they inhaled or swallowed pieces of degraded sound-dampening foam on the machines.
Starting off as a lighting company more than 130 years ago, Philips has undergone major changes in recent years, selling off assets to focus on making high-end electronic healthcare products.

The new policy however does not include Whatsapp.&nbsp;In a blog&nbsp;post on the website Meta states "We&rsquo;ve rewritten and re-designed our Privacy Policy to make it easier to understand and clearer about how we use your information.&nbsp;Our Terms of Service is being updated to better explain what is expected from us and those who use our platforms."A new setting will give people more control over who can see their posts by default. If you are using an old iPhone you may soon not be able to access Whatsapp! iPhone users operating on an older iOS are rushing for an update as Apple notified it's users to "Update to the latest version of iOS to continue using WhatsApp." This update notification is meant for those users running iOS 10 and iOS 11, however this update may require an upgrade of the iPhone for some. iPhone users still supporting the iPhone5 or iPhone 5C will now have to think of an upgrade as these models will not support an iOS upgrade required to run Whatsapp. Apple warned that WhatsApp will stop supporting this version of iOS after 24 Oct 2022.” It then advises: “Please go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update to get the latest iOS version."

Apple CEO Tim Cook added the company was “not immune” to supply chain challenges.Similar story delivered by e-commerce giant Amazon where revenue increased very modestly at 7% during the first quarter, compared with 44% expansion a year ago. It marks the slowest rate for any quarter since the dot-com bust in 2001 and the second straight period of single-digit growth. The company’s operating margin dipped to 3.2% in the first quarter from 8.2% a year earlier despite adding user fees in the US and also hiking rates for Amazon Prime.  Google’s earnings shortfall is an indication of trouble across the online-advertising industry as revenue from YouTube was a big miss for the tech firm as many questioned YouTube Shorts ability to take on TikTok. YouTube revenue grew 14.39% to $6.9 billion, its slowest growth in the past five quarters. In the year-ago quarter, for example, YouTube revenue soared 48.7%. CFO Ruth Porat said on the analyst call that YouTube experienced “modest growth” mostly in direct response ad. 
Intel’s revenue decreased by 7% year over year and margins also a took a hit narrowing to 50.4% from 55.2%. This however is not the end of the tough road. Speaking to analysts in a conference call Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger warned of a grim outlook for two years “We expect the industry will continue to see challenges until at least 2024 in areas like capacity and tool availability.” The strain in tech is evident in the stock prices as tech index Nasdaq is now down 20% so far this year as investors shun the ultra-pricey tech sector, which had made gangbuster gains for much of the pandemic.

A burning issue of safety may lead to a recall of the much popular e-scooters by manufacturers such as Ola and Okinawa. As per reports the govt may direct these electric scooter makers to issue a recall after a series of fire incidents, unnamed sources told Livemint. On March 26, a video of a black Ola e-scooter engulfed in flames went viral on social media. The same day, another fatal fire involving a battery-powered Okinawa scooter reportedly killed a father and a child in Tamil Nadu. There have been 6 known incidents of e-scooters catching fire, 4 of which have been Ola. Vehicles catching fire has been a concern globally. Battery fire risks caused General Motors to recall 100,000 cars, and Hyundai to recall 82,000 cars in 2021.
