Tamannaah Bhatia has been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in Guwahati in connection with the HPZ money laundering case. The HPZ token mobile app allegedly scammed several investors by promising them returns through Bitcoin and cryptocurrency mining. &nbsp;
<h2>What is the case?&nbsp;</h2>
ED is currently investigating the money laundering case against multiple people associated with the HPZ Token App. The accused reportedly opened bank accounts and merchant IDs associated with the app through shell companies to conceal their illegal activities. The accused were involved in illegal online gambling, betting and investment in Bitcoin mining.&nbsp;
<h2>What is Tamannaah&rsquo;s connection to the case?&nbsp;</h2>
Actor Tamannaah Bhatia reportedly received money for appearing at one of the events related to the HPZ Token App. According to reports, the actor is not facing any &lsquo;serious&rsquo; charges. She was summoned earlier but postponed her appearance due to busy schedule. On Thursday, Tamannaah provided her statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. &nbsp;
On the professional front, Tamannaah Bhatia was last seen in &lsquo;Vedaa&rsquo; and also made a cameo in &lsquo;Stree 2&rsquo;. &nbsp;

Earlier, actor Sanjay Dutt was also asked to appear before the court but he could not appear because of his busy shoot schedule.

Sources informed News 18 that Tammanah Bhatia has asked for a new date. &ldquo;Tamannaah Bhatia has informed the cyber team that she is not in Mumbai, and could appear again at a later date,&rdquo; sources said. Cyber Cell is yet to announce the new date. 
Last week ANI reported, &ldquo;Maharashtra Cyber summons actor Tamannaah Bhatia for questioning in connection with the illegal streaming of IPL 2023 on Fairplay App that caused loss of Crores of Rupees to Viacom. She has been asked to appear before Maharashtra Cyber on 29th April."
Bhatia has been summoned by the Maharashtra cyber cell for allegedly promoting the viewing of the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on the Fairplay betting app, he said.
Some of the IPL matches were also streamed illegally on the app in 2023, officials said citing a complaint in this connection.

She is scheduled to appear for questioning on April 29. Additionally, Sanjay Dutt's name has also been linked to the case, but due to his schedule, he was unable to appear for questioning.

FairPlay is a betting exchange platform offering various sports and entertainment gambling options. Cricket is the most popular sport on FairPlay, followed by Football and Tennis. The app streams all sports matches live, allowing players to &lsquo;watch and win&rsquo; simultaneously.
FairPlay is a subsidiary of the Mahadev online gaming app, which also facilitates illegal betting in live games like cricket, poker, card games, badminton, tennis, and football. The Mahadev betting app gained attention when actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, who appeared in its ads, were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning.
Operated by Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal from Dubai, Mahadev Online used various methods to attract new customers, such as creating new websites, closed chat groups, and running paid ads on social media. The ED's investigation into the Mahadev app-linked money laundering case has allegedly revealed involvement of high-ranking politicians and bureaucrats from Chhattisgarh, with projected proceeds of crime estimated at about ₹6,000 crore.

Even in 2019, Tamannaah reportedly clarified that it was simply a bottle opener.

Speaking with India Today, the actor shared if she feels pressured to tie the knot.
Tamannaah said that marriage is a big responsibility and it's not a party. She said marriage comes with a lot of work and one should not tie the knot just because others are doing it.
She said, &lsquo;I feel you should get married when you want to get married. Marriage is a big responsibility. It's not a party. It takes a lot of work, and so is having a plant, having a dog, or having kids. So when you are ready for a responsibility like that which is important then you do it. Not because time or sab kar rahe hain toh karlo (everyone is doing it so you should too).&rsquo; She revealed that she thought that she would have finished work and gotten married and had kids by the age of 30.
&lsquo;When I started working years back it was like an actress's career span was only for 8-10 years. So I did the math and was like by the age of 30 I would have finished working, married, and would have two kids. I had not planned post-30. So, when I actually became 30 years old, I realised that I am just born, it was like a purna janam (re-birth), I felt like a brand new baby. Today we do things out of choice and it makes us feel a certain way and we have that choice. The generation before would always think &lsquo;yeh time ho gaya to yeh kar lo (It&rsquo;s time so get married)' etc. Apart from scientifically a biological block, there is nothing really else going against you as a woman. So suddenly I have realized that my ideas then were so people friendly, they weren't my ideas. I only discovered my ideas when I turned 30,&rsquo; the actor added.
