As fans eagerly tuned in for the premiere of Stranger Things Season 5, Netflix reportedly faced widespread outages, preventing many users from streaming the show. Viewers in the United States were most affected, though some disruptions were also reported in India.
According to PEOPLE, the platform went down shortly after the first four episodes of the final season were released at 5 pm PT on Wednesday, leaving fans unable to access the highly anticipated content. Millions of viewers, who had waited three years for the series&rsquo; conclusion, took to social media to vent their frustration. One fan tweeted on X, "NETFLIX FIX YOURSELF RIGHT NOW BRO, I'VE BEEN WAITING THREE YEARS." Another added, "OH MY GOD NETFLIX PLS FIX YOURSELF I WANNA WATCH."
Netflix confirmed that the issue was resolved quickly. A company spokesperson told PEOPLE, "some members briefly experienced an issue streaming on TV devices, but service recovered for all accounts within five minutes."
The crash came just hours after series co-creator Ross Duffer shared on Instagram that Netflix had already increased its server capacity, claiming the platform had "increased bandwidth by 30 per cent to avoid a crash."
Season 5 marks the final chapter of the hit sci-fi series. The new episodes pick up in fall 1987, following a smaller time jump than fans expected after Season 4, which was set in spring 1986. The concluding storyline will see the Hawkins crew confront the "Upside Down" one last time.
Returning cast members include Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, David Harbour, and Winona Ryder. Streaming service Netflix has announced that the fifth and final season of its smash hit series "Stranger Things" will debut later this year in three-parts.&nbsp;
At its annual Tudum event, the streamer revealed that the first part of the final season will come out on November 26, followed by the second part on Christmas on December 25, and the series finale on New Year's Eve on December 31.
"Stranger Things", created by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, is set in the 1980s and takes a look at the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, where a secret government lab accidentally opens a door to a parallel dimension referred to as the &lsquo;The Upside Down&rsquo;.
The series regulars returning to the final outing include Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Cara Buono, and Jamie Campbell Bower.
"Stranger Things 5" is set in the fall of 1987.

The show, which was released on November 23, has garnered almost 341.2 million hours of viewership already.
The series is currently trending on number one in 83 different countries all over the world. Season 4 of &lsquo;Stranger Things&rsquo; held the previous record with a viewership of over 335 million hours in a single week from May 30 to June 5. &lsquo;Stranger Things 4&rsquo; still has the record for the most-watched Netflix English-language series in its first 28 days on the platform, with viewership around 1.35 billion hours.
&lsquo;Wednesday&rsquo;, the 8-episode series, is about Wednesday Addams and the Addams family. It stars Jenna Ortega in the titular role, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman. Tim Burton has directed and produced this series.

Prisoners, sex workers, and unwitting psychiatric patients were allegedly used as test subjects. These experiments were done at centres in Japan, Germany, and the Philippines.
Project contracts were also given to universities, and research foundations. Around 80 institutions, and 185 researchers reportedly participated in the studies. In true CIA fashion, many participants were unaware that they were working with, or for, the American spy agency.
So how exactly did CIA try to control people's minds? The methods were not very scientific, according to experts. Journalist Stephen Kinzer, who wrote a book on MK-Ultra, said that the project chief, a chemist named Sidney Gottlieb believed that to control someone's mind, their existing mind had to be destroyed, and a new one inserted in its place.

To "redesign" people's minds, they were given psychedelic drugs like LSD, MDMA, and mescaline. Heroin, barbiturates, methamphetamine, and psilocybin mushrooms were also allegedly used. In addition, people were subjected to dangerous techniques like extreme electroshock therapy. Sensory isolation, and exposure to extreme temperatures were also used in the experiments.
One of the most chilling parts of MK-Ultra was Operation Midnight Climax. Reports say that CIA used sex workers to lure subjects to a safe house. There, the targets were dosed with drugs like LSD, and observed by CIA agents.
But what exactly prompted the CIA to want to develop and harness mind control?

Engaged in a Cold War with the Soviet Union, American authorities started suspecting that the USSR had developed mind-control technology. This belief was reportedly bolstered by the behaviour of some American prisoners-of-war who returned to the US after the Korea war. These POWs appeared "brainwashed" and "espoused" Communist propaganda. 
CIA's MK-Ultra project was also inspired by experiments in Nazi and Japanese concentration camps, according to Stephen Kinzer. The CIA even hired people who had worked at these concentration camps. Nazi doctors who had experimented with mescaline were employed by the CIA to help with MK-Ultra, as per Kinzer's book.
In a self-incriminating statement, CIA director Stansfield Turner reportedly admitted in 1977 that MK-Ultra was kept secret because of ethical and legal questions around it. He also said that the CIA feared backlash from the public if MK-Ultra was exposed.
As expected, the agency's stated objectives behind MK-Ultra were full of euphemisms. The spy agency said that it wanted to study the alteration of human behaviour using various substances. The CIA wanted to see if drugs could make hypnotising someone easier, and whether some substances could enhance a person's ability to withstand torture.
The agency also wanted to see if drugs could produce amnesia, shock, and confusion. Another objective was to see if some substances could promote the intoxicating effects of alcohol.
After around a decade of failed inhuman experiments, MK-Ultra's chief Sidney Gottlieb decided that mind-control was impossible. Although efforts were made to brush the project under the carpet, the truth eventually emerged.
The US Senate held a hearing on MK-Ultra in the 1970s, and drew some damning conclusions. Senators called MK-Ultra a "massive abridgement of the rights of American citizens". The project was held guilty of showing "fundamental disregard for the value of human life". The Senate noted that the deaths of at least two Americans could be attributed to the programs, and other participants might still suffer from "residual effects".
Despite the unimaginable trauma caused to MK-Ultra test subjects, none of the CIA bigwigs allegedly responsible for the project faced any punishment, reports say.
Because of its mysterious nature, and almost supernatural objectives, MK-Ultra has featured in American pop culture. MK-Ultra is a part of the plot of the Netflix series 'Stranger Things'. Its creators told Rolling Stone magazine that they wanted the show "grounded in science in some way". In the show, a protagonist's mother is depicted as an MK-Ultra test subject. A character named Eleven has special abilities because of the experiments.
Failure to fix accountability for such a barbaric project is one of the darkest blots in the history of a country which calls itself "land of the free and home of the brave".

The Duffer Brothers revealed that 'Stranger Things 4' part 1 will arrive on Netflix on May 27, while its part 2 will land on July 1.&nbsp;

Netflix has finally answered the prayers of all <a href="https://www.editorji.com/entertainment-news/hollywood/peaky-blinders-to-stranger-things-season-4-most-anticipated-shows-for-2022-1640927128539" target="_blank">'Stranger Things'</a> fans, giving an update about what lies next for the beloved sci-fi series.
It looks like the series' creators, the Duffer Brothers, have decided to double down on the fun, splitting the new batch of episodes into two volumes.
'Stranger Things' season 4 part 1 will arrive on May 27, while part 2 will release on July 1.
Then, the show will end with a fifth and final season.
The makers also released a fresh set of posters that have piqued fans' interest to know more about what lies ahead for Jim Hopper, Eleven and the gang.
The new season will also see the action split into four different locations, including Russia where, according to a newly released poster, Hopper is currently stuck.
