The prime accused in the sensational case, Canada-based gangster Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, is yet to be arrested and charges have not been framed against him.

A court in Punjab's Mansa district on Wednesday framed charges against jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and 26 other accused in connection with the Sidhu Moosewala murder case.
Singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, who was popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29, 2022. The prime accused in the sensational case, Canada-based gangster Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, is yet to be arrested and charges have not been framed against him.
"District Sessions Judge H S Grewal framed charges against 27 accused in the Moosewala murder case," said Satinder Pal Singh Mittal, the counsel for the Moosewala's family.
Besides, the court also dismissed the discharge applications of accused Lawrence Bishoni, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Jagtar Singh and Charanjit Singh Chetan, the counsel said.
The court has fixed the next hearing on May 20.
Reacting to the development, Moosewala's father Balkaur Singh said for the first time in the last 24 months, the family is feeling some relief.
The accused were booked under different sections including 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), 212 (harbouring offender) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Moosewala was killed when he, along with his friend and cousin, was travelling in a jeep to Jawahar Ke village in Mansa. His vehicle was waylaid and bullets were sprayed on him by six shooters.
After the killing, Goldy Brar, who is a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the murder.
According to the charge sheet filed by police, accused Brar was the mastermind behind the murder of Moosewala which was carried out to "avenge" the killing of Vicky Middukhera', a Youth Akali leader, in 2021.
Brar was designated a terrorist by the government under the anti-terror law UAPA in January this year.
He had coordinated with accused Lawrence Bishnoi, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Sachin Bhiwani, Anmol Bishnoi, Sachin Thapan, Monu Dagar, Pawan Bishnoi and the shooters and prepared the plan to kill Moosewala, according to the charge sheet.
Bishnoi, who was allegedly operating his gang from Tihar jail, was arrested by Punjab police in the murder case.

The parents of late Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, on Sunday welcomed a baby boy, nearly two years after the artiste was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district.
Balkaur Singh, Moosewala's father, announced the birth of the newborn on his Facebook page saying he and his wife Charan Kaur were blessed with Moosewala's younger brother.
"With the blessings of lakhs and crores of people who love Shubhdeep, the Almighty has blessed us with Shubh's little brother," Balkaur posted in Punjabi.
"The family is healthy and I am grateful for the immense love of all well wishers," he added.
In his post, Balkaur also shared his picture holding the baby in his arms along with a welcome cake and Moosewala's photo in the background.
In an Instagram post, Balkaur posed with the staff of the medical facility where the baby was born.
According to sources, Balkaur, around 60, and Charan Kaur, 58, had opted for the IVF technique.
There were reports that Moosewala's parents were expecting a child, but days ago Balkaur had asked fans to not believe in rumours.
"We are grateful to Sidhu's fans who are so worried about our family. There is a lot of speculation going on about my family. I request you not to believe all these rumours. Whatever news there is, the family will share it with all of you (sic)" he had said in a social media post.

The jail administration seized the mobile phone as well as a SIM card from Khan, who is a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Khan is lodged in the high-security zone of the jail along with seven other accused involved in the singer's murder.
In February, Khan and six others were booked for killing two co-accused inside the jail. The murder was captured on the mobile phones recovered from the inmates.

Moose Wala, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was among the 424 people whose security was withdrawn by Punjab police on May 28. The others who lose state security were two former MLAs, two Jathedars of Takht Damdama Sahib and Takht Kesgarh Sahib, heads of Deras and serving and retired policemen.
On May 28, a controversy had broken out over the issue of state security. The government first trimmed, but then sought to restore the security of Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh. Singh had refused police cover, saying Sikh youth and Khalsa Panth were enough for his security.
The Akal Takht Jathedar was recently in news for saying that Sikh youth should arm themselves with licensed weapons. CM Bhagwant Mann had criticised the statement.
The spate of state security being withdrawn began after the Aam Aadmi Party won the Punjab elections, but before the government was sworn in. On March 12, Punjab police withdrew security of 122 former ministers and MLAs.
The decision had coincided with then-CM-designate Bhagwant Mann's statement that Punjab police was providing security to politicians, while police stations were lying vacant. Mann had said that the politician-centric approach in policing would be changed to people-centric approach.

The others who lose state security were two former MLAs, two Jathedars of Takht Damdama Sahib and Takht Kesgarh Sahib, heads of Deras and serving and retired policemen.
On May 28, a controversy had broken out over the issue of state security. The government first trimmed, but then sought to restore the security of Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh. Singh had refused police cover, saying Sikh youth and Khalsa Panth were enough for his security.
The Akal Takht Jathedar was recently in news for saying that Sikh youth should arm themselves with licensed weapons. CM Bhagwant Mann had criticised the statement.
The spate of state security being withdrawn began after the Aam Aadmi Party won the Punjab elections, but before the government was sworn in. On March 12, Punjab police withdrew security of 122 former ministers and MLAs.

The decision had coincided with then-CM-designate Bhagwant Mann's statement that Punjab police was providing security to politicians, while police stations were lying vacant. Mann had said that the politician-centric approach in policing would be changed to people-centric approach.
Since the first order, at least 4 more such directives were issued by the AAP government.

The Indian Express confirmed that he died of gunshot wounds. Hailing from Moosa village in Mansa district, the popular singer had joined the Congress amid much fanfare in November 2021.

''He was showered with bullets in Mansa just 2 days after @BhagwantMann govt withdrew his security. @AAPPunjab govt has lost moral authority. It must be DISMISSED (sic),&rdquo; said Warring in a tweet.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moosewala, was among 424 people whose security was withdrawn by the Punjab Police on Saturday.
