Mexican actress Karla Souza has won the International Emmy for Best Actress for her performance in &lsquo;Dive&rsquo;. Indian actor Shefali Shah was nominated alongside Karla for her performance in &lsquo;Delhi Crime&rsquo;.
The other nominees in the category were Connie Nielsen in the Danish project &lsquo;The Dreamer &ndash; Becoming Karen Blixen&rsquo; and UK's Billie Piper in &lsquo;I Hate Suzie Too&rsquo;.
The official X (formerly Twitter) of International Emmy Awards 2023 announced the winner with a photo of Karla. They wrote, &lsquo;The International Emmy for Best Performance by an Actress goes to "Karla Souza in La Cada [Dive]&rdquo; produced by Madam / Filmadora / Infinity Hill / Amazon (sic).&rsquo;
Shefali was nominated for her portrayal of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi in the second installment of the Netflix series, 'Delhi Crime'.
For the event, Shefali donned a red saree with gold details.
The first season of the show, which was based on the 2012 Delhi gang rape, won Best Drama Series at the International Emmy Awards in 2020.
Besides Shefali Shah, other Indian personalities who were nominated for the prestigious International Emmy award this year included Jim Sarbh for &lsquo;Rocket Boys&rsquo; Season 2 and Vir Das, for his Netflix special, 'Landing.'

I remember walking into a crowded market and being touched inappropriately and feeling crap about it. The trailer has given us a sneak peek into the chaotic world of the actor's medical journey to become a Gynaecologist. Actor Shefali Shah played the role of Akshay Kumar’s mother when she was about 28 years old. Shefali Shah essayed the character of Sumitra Thakur, Amitabh Bachchan’s wife in Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005). Akshay Kumar had played the role of their son.  
Recently, in an interview, Shefali said, “I played aged very early. I played Akshay Kumar’s mother when I was around 28. I got Hasratein when I was 20 and played a 30-35 year-old in it. After a point, I decided if I’m not getting the work that really drives me crazy, I will sit at home. I reached this place that such kind of work won’t come every day. And the few films I did raised that bar. I’ve said no to work even if it meant sitting at home for two years not doing anything.” 
Speaking about the digital space, Shefali said, “OTT opened up that horizon with age-appropriate roles, where a heroine didn’t have an expiry date. Otherwise, there was an 18-22 window of age. After that, they didn’t know what to do with the women. They either became accessories or were just a wall in the background. I’ve been working since I was 16. But my professional life changed by the time I reached my 40s. In fact, it changed in the last two years after Delhi Crime.” 
Shefali was seen in series Delhi Crime which won the best drama series honours at the International Emmys last year. Shefali will also feature in Delhi Crime season 2.
