'Shamshera' opened to poor collections at the box office. The period drama touted as a larger-than-life entertainer, collected ₹10.25 crore at the box office on its first day. The film has reportedly performed worse than Akshay Kumar's 'Samrat Prithviraj' which collected ₹10.70 crore on its opening day.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the figures of Shamshera's box office numbers. He tweeted, "#Shamshera sends shock waves within the industry, as Day 1 ends on an underwhelming note... National chains poor, single screens below expectations... All eyes on Day 2 and 3 biz... Fri ₹ 10.25 cr. #India biz."
The film was made on a budget of ₹150 crore, but it seems it failed to impress the audience after the grand release.The Karan Malhotra directorial is set in the backdrop of the city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved, and tortured by general Shuddh Singh, played by Sanjay Dutt.
'Shamshera' marks Ranbir Kapoor's return to the silver screen after a hiatus of four years. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor in a lead role. 'Shamshera' was released in theatres on July 22.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film's trending is extremely weak and there is zero hope for it to cover lost ground. 'Samrat Prithviraj' grossed ₹4.25 crore on Day 6, bringing in a total collection of ₹48.65 crore. The film earned ₹ 39.40 cr in its opening weekend. 
Chandraprakash Dwivedi directorial, which is based on the life of Rajput emperor Prithviraj Chauhan, received mixed reviews at the theatres.As per reports, most of the morning shows of the film are being cancelled due to low occupancy.
'Samrat Prithviraj' has been declared tax-free in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The film also stars Sonu Sood, Sanjay Dutt, Manav Vij, Ashutosh Rana and Sakshi Tanwar in pivotal roles.

YRF’s magnum opus ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ got released this week. Akshay Kumar has been paired opposite Manushi Chhillar, who makes her Bollywood debut with this film. 
Speaking to media, Akshay Kumar spoke about his experience of working with Manushi Chhillar. He said, “Manushi is an extremely evolved actress. To play the role of a queen with such confidence is highly commendable. Manushi used to train with Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi at Yashraj Studios for months. Besides learning her dialogues, she also used to remember others’ dialogues."
Speaking about the film, Akshay said, “Samrat Prithviraj’ is not an elaboration of the life of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. The film is about all the things which made him the man he is."
