Robert De Niro and Steve Buscemi were among Hollywood stars who joined &lsquo;Paisans for Kamala,&rsquo; a live-stream event featuring Italian American celebrities rallying support for the Harris-Walz presidential campaign.
Robert De Niro opened the event, hosted by comedian Paul Mecurio, former New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, and former Providence Mayor Joseph Paolino Jr. He shared his optimism for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz&rsquo;s chances in the 2024 election but stressed the importance of not getting complacent.
&lsquo;I&rsquo;m very optimistic about it all,&rsquo; he said.
&lsquo;I&rsquo;m very excited, but to me, it ain&rsquo;t over till it&rsquo;s over. So we can&rsquo;t for one second think that we&rsquo;re ahead of this thing. We just have to be on it all the time until the very end because they&rsquo;re going to try everything when the election day comes. When will these things be final? What will they question? What will they play games about? We know it&rsquo;s coming, we see it coming. We have to just be ever vigilant, and it&rsquo;s not over till it&rsquo;s over,&rsquo; he said.
De Niro added that he hopes, if the Democratic ticket of Harris and Walz defeats the Republican ticket of Trump and JD Vance, there won't be a repeat of the January 6 Capitol riot.
&lsquo;Hopefully, if God willing that it&rsquo;s Kamala and Walz, that the ones who make the big thing and what happened [on] January 6, I think people will think twice about doing something about that no matter what Trump says, because &hellip; people pay a price, and is it worth it for them? Especially following someone like him? You know, it&rsquo;s just insane,&rsquo; he said.
De Niro hopes that some Trump supporters will find something in the Harris-Walz ticket that resonates with them.
&lsquo;I think people who would normally support Trump &hellip; could very well see that that there is a way with them that&rsquo;s more for them than with Trump because Trump doesn&rsquo;t offer anything,&rdquo; he added. &ldquo;And we&rsquo;ve seen this before in other countries and other societies and other times in history, they think they can control someone like him. But once he becomes the boss &hellip; if God forbid, he becomes the boss, all the people who thought they could control him, they&rsquo;re gonna find out differently,&rsquo; he added.
Steve Buscemi also spoke at the event, describing Harris as &lsquo;smart, strong, kind, tough, inclusive, and uniquely qualified.&rsquo;
He also highlighted critical issues such as affordable healthcare, education, green initiatives, and sensible gun laws. He expressed confusion over the banning of books instead of automatic weapons and stressed the importance of a woman's right to choose and respecting people&rsquo;s decision not to have children.
&lsquo;Everyone has a stake in our future. Sorry, JD,&rsquo; he remarked, addressing Republican candidate JD Vance.
Buscemi also voiced concerns about a second Trump presidency, acknowledging that no candidate is perfect but emphasizing the value of free speech, peaceful protest, and the right to vote.
&lsquo;What worries me about another Trump administration is his 'my-way-or-the-highway' mentality. He claims to hire the best people, but fired most of them. This time, he'd surround himself with loyalists who align only with him,&rsquo; Buscemi said, warning that Trump would do anything to stay in power, even inciting violence.

The decision to withdraw the award was reportedly taken by the National Association of Broadcasters. A spokesperson for the association told the Hill said: &ldquo;While we strongly support the right of every American to exercise free speech and participate in civic engagement, it is clear that Mr De Niro&rsquo;s recent high-profile activities will create a distraction from the philanthropic work that we were hoping to recognize. To maintain the focus on service of the award winners, Mr De Niro will no longer be attending the event.&rdquo;&nbsp;

The 80-year-old responded to the development in a statement. He told the Hill, &ldquo;I support the work of the NAB Leadership Foundation and would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for what the Foundation has done and will continue to do for the good of us all, and I wish them well for their continued good work.&rdquo; &nbsp;

Hollywood legend Robert De Niro faced off with Donald Trump supporters on May 28 after calling the former US president a &lsquo;clown&rsquo; who wants to &lsquo;destroy the world&rsquo; outside Trump's hush money trial in New York.
The incident occurred while Capitol Police officers Harry Dunn and Michael Fanone accompanied De Niro as special guests of Joe Biden's campaign.
De Niro said, &lsquo;I love this city. I don't want to destroy it. Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city but the country and, eventually, he could destroy the world&rsquo;.
This seemed to not have gone down well with Trump's supporters present there. A group of people was heard yelling at the actor, &lsquo;your movies suck!&rsquo;
However, that did not deter De Niro from further criticising Trump.
&lsquo;We New Yorkers used to tolerate him when he was just another grubby real estate hustler masquerading as a big shot. A two-bit playboy lying his way into the tabloids. A clown&rsquo;, De Niro said about Trump.
&lsquo;But this city is pretty accommodating. We make room for clowns&rsquo;, the actor's tirade continued. &lsquo;But not a person like Trump, who will eventually run a country that does not work, and we all know that&rsquo;, he said.
The 'Raging Bull' actor accused Trump of buying votes with 'outrageous lies' and 'empty promises'. De Niro stated that Trump's incitement of the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack motivated him to voice a new Biden-Harris campaign ad. He also suggested that Trump might use the US military to suppress future protests against him.
De Niro expressed concern that if Trump were to serve another term, elections in the US would become a thing of the past. He insisted that Trump would refuse to leave office if re-elected. De Niro emphasized the importance of voting for Joe Biden, stating it was the only way to preserve freedoms and humanity.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump's spokesperson Jason Miller criticized the actor and Biden's campaign, stating, &lsquo;The best they can do is roll out a washed-up actor.&rsquo;

Urging the U.S voters to not vote for the Republican Presidential candiate, De Niro said, &ldquo;We want to live in a world that we want to live in and enjoy living in, or live in a nightmare. Vote for Trump and you&rsquo;ll get the nightmare, vote for Biden and we&rsquo;ll be back to normalcy.&rdquo;&nbsp;
While De Niro has frequently criticised and called out the former President, Donald Trump also responded to the actor. Trump attacked the Hollywood actor by calling him &lsquo;a total loser&rsquo; whose acting talents have diminished. &nbsp;

The news of his death was shared by actor's daughter Drena on July 3.
She shared an emotional note for her 'sweet angel' on social media.
She wrote that he was loved beyond words or description from the moment she felt him in her belly.
Drena shared the news of Leandro's death on her Instagram. She posted a picture of him and penned a long note. 'My beautiful sweet angel . I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly .You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life . I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you,' she began in her caption.
Drena further continued, 'I don&rsquo;t know how to live without you but I&rsquo;ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama . You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you. I&rsquo;m so sorry my baby , I&rsquo;m so sorry @carlosmare. Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.'
On the work front, Leandro had starred with Drena in Bradley Cooper directorial 'A star Is Born'.

The actor already has six children. According to People magazine, he and his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, are parents to daughter Drena and son Raphael. In 1995, he welcomed twin sons Julian and Aaron with his former girlfriend-actor Toukie Smith. Robert also shares son Elliot and daughter Helen Grace with his former wife, Grace Hightower.

Police said that the basement door that the woman used to enter the townhouse had signs of forced entry.

A woman has been accused of trying to steal Christmas gifts from the house of Hollywood actor Robert De Niro.
The incident occurred around 2:45 am on 19 December 2022. Police arrested the alleged serial burglar from the living room of De Niro's Manhattan home. De Niro, who had been upstairs, came down to the living room as the woman was being arrested.
Police said that the basement door that the woman used to enter the townhouse had signs of forced entry. Officers said that they had been tracking the 30-year-old woman after a string of recent robberies.
A spokesperson for the 79-year-old actor said he wouldn't be making statements about the attempted robbery. De Niro's spokesperson said it was a temporary rental home being used by the actor.

Caan's movie and TV career spanned over 60 years. Apart from 'The Godfather,' some of his other notable films include 'Brian's Song' (1971), 'Rollerball' (1975), 'Misery' (1990), 'Eraser' (1996) and 'Elf' (2003). 
Fans and colleagues are grieving the actor's death. 
In a statement, Al Pacino, who starred with Caan in 1972 film 'The Godfather,' said that Jimmay was 'a great actor, a brilliant director, and dear friend' and he is going to miss him. 
'Jimmy was my fictional brother and my lifelong friend. It’s hard to believe that he won’t be in the world anymore because he was so alive and daring. A great actor, a brilliant director and my dear friend. I loved him, gonna miss him,'  Al Pacino said.

In a tweet, Adam Sandler said that he Loved Caan very much and always wanted to be like him. 'So happy I got to know him. Never ever stopped laughing when I was around that man. His movies were best of the best,' he wrote.
