Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has ruled out becoming part of any coalition, indicating that the party will not stake to form government at the Centre.
Imran's official X account shared the jailed leader's message saying that the party has been instructed not to engage with any other political party.
Earlier PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan said that the party looking to join hands with Majlis-e-Wahdat-Muslimeen.
Imran's decision to back out paves the way for Nawaz Sharif to become the country's prime minister for the fourth time. Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto had announced that he was stepping out of the race.

Pakistan election: Imran Khan to oversee PTI poll preparation from jail 

In the run-up to the February 8 polls, the Islamabad High Court has granted leaders of Imran Khan's party to visit him at Adiala Jail and hold election strategy meetings.

The Islamabad High Court on Friday granted leaders and lawyers of Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan's party to visit him at Adiala Jail and hold election strategy meetings in the run-up to the February 8 polls.
The order was passed by Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb on a petition filed by Khan seeking permission to hold meetings with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party members Asad Qaiser, Junaid Akbar Khan, senators Aurangzeb Khan and Dost Mohammad Khan and Ishtiaq Meherban among others to strategise ahead of the elections.
The plea filed by the 71-year-old cricketer-turned-politician also requested the court to instruct the superintendent of Adiala Jail to ensure privacy for Khan during his consultations with his legal team.
During Friday's hearing, Attorney-General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan, lawyers of Khan's party and the Adiala Jail superintendent appeared in the IHC.
PTI counsel Shoaib Shaheen said the party needed to hold discussions for the allotment of 700 tickets while the AGP raised objections to the maintainability of the plea.
Justice Aurangzeb expressed displeasure at Awan&rsquo;s arguments and asked: &ldquo;Is the additional note from the Supreme Court insufficient for you? Do you want me to write a note against you as well?&rdquo; He passed these remarks in reference to Justice Athar Minallah&rsquo;s additional note in the cipher case against Khan and ex-foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The cipher case is related to the alleged mishandling of a diplomatic document sent by the Pakistan embassy in March last year. The Federal Investigation Agency filed a case on August 15 that the accused violated the secret laws of the country while trying to exploit the cable for political purposes.
Both Khan and Qureshi were given bail by the Supreme Court in the cipher case.
In his note, the Supreme Court judge had highlighted that it was the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the government&rsquo;s duty to ensure that the public was facilitated in expressing its will through a &ldquo;genuine election&rdquo;, adding that it was also bound to ensure that there was no perception of oppression or repression against one political party while others were treated favourably.
Mentioning these remarks, Justice Aurangzeb said the AGP and advocate general were representing the caretaker government and should therefore be impartial.
&ldquo;A terrible system is being run under the interim government where even consultation on elections is not allowed,&rdquo; he remarked, asking if the caretakers wanted to &ldquo;derail the polls&rdquo;.
Subsequently, the court allowed PTI lawyers, including Chairman Gohar Khan, to hold consultations with Khan in jail. The court also passed orders for a meeting between Gohar and the ex-premier to be held under the supervision of the jail superintendent.
&ldquo;Permission for consultations on polls is a fundamental right,&rdquo; Justice Aurangzeb said, stressing that the caretaker government should be &ldquo;neutral&rdquo; during elections.
&ldquo;Opposing meetings between the PTI chairman and Imran (Khan) raises questions on the neutrality of the interim set-up,&rdquo; the judge added and disposed of the petition.
Talking to reporters, a PTI lawyer said the caretakers &ldquo;are actually chair takers and everyone can see on whose orders they are functioning&rdquo;.
&ldquo;They all have a problem with the fact that Imran Khan and the nation are on one page. Today, the public is standing with Imran Khan,&rdquo; he asserted, adding that the ECP and elite political parties were seeing their defeat.
Khan was ousted through a vote of no-confidence in April 2022. More than 150 cases have been registered against him since his ouster from power.
With the release of the poll schedule, election-related activities have begun inside the camps of major political parties. The election programme is fully underway with the deadline for filing nomination papers over on Sunday. The returning officers will examine the nomination papers from December 25 to December 30.&nbsp;

A former minister in Imran Khan's government has alleged that her daughter was illegally arrested by the police in an overnight raid. Shireen Mazari was a top leader in PTI before she was allegedly forced to quit following May 9 violence in the country.&nbsp;

Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leader and Human Rights minister, Shireen Mazari, has alleged that her daughter was abducted by the police and individuals dressed in plain clothes during an overnight raid on August 20, Pakistan's Geo News reported.&nbsp;
In a social media post, Mazari, who was forced to quit politics in the wake of the May 9 violence and has faced multiple arrests since then, alleged that the police forcibly entered her house by breaking down the front door.
They apprehended her daughter without presenting an arrest warrant. Security cameras, a laptop, and mobile phones were also taken away. Strongly condemning the incident, Mazari termed it an act of 'abduction' and 'state fascism.'

Meanwhile, confirming the arrest, PTI Vice President Chaudhary Fawad Hussain in a tweet said the IHC has been “occupied by the Rangers” and lawyers “are being subjected to torture”.

Pakistan authorities on Sunday arrested a Senator of Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party for allegedly using abusive and threatening language against senior military officials.
Azam Swati was taken into custody by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for the second time in less than two months for tweets against army leaders. He was previously arrested by the FIA in October.
A first information (FIR) report was registered under Prevention of Electronic Crime Act 2016 (Peca) by the FIA on the complaint of the state through Islamabad Cyber Crime Reporting Centre (CCRC) Technical Assistant Aneesur Rehman.

The FIR stated that Swati and three other Twitter accounts &mdash; @Wolf1Ak, @HaqeeqatTV_20 and @Azaadi99 &mdash; &ldquo;with malafide intentions and ulterior motives, started [a] highly obnoxious campaign of intimidating tweets [&hellip;] against state institutions&rdquo; and senior government functionaries, including outgoing army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Swati on November 26 tweeted that he would go after a senior military official at every forum, the FIR stated. On November 19, @Azaadi99 shared a tweet which held generals responsible for the country&rsquo;s destruction to which Swati replied with &ldquo;thank you&rdquo;.
Further, @Wolf1Ak on November 24 stated that &ldquo;tabdeeli&rdquo; had to begin by clearing the filth of the &ldquo;corrupt generals&rdquo; from the institution, to which Swati again replied with &ldquo;thank you&rdquo;.

Pakistan's fomer PM Imran Khan had a narrow escape from an assassination attempt. An unidentified gunman who shot at Khan missed the target and the bullet hit him in his leg.&nbsp;
The motivation for the assassin was clearly to kill Khan, however, a PTI supporter who was close to the attacker stopped him on time which saved the former Prime Minister's life.
The man, who foiled the assailant's attempt has been hailed as a hero on social media.
A video of the man who stopped the attacker surfaced on social media in which he said that he was approximately 10 to 12 feet away from the container in which Khan was present and when he saw the attacker loading his gun he rushed at him and tried to snatch his gun in this the attacker missed its target and later tried to run from the spot. The man chased him down and handed him over to the police.&nbsp;
