<p>Basically, if gaming is your thing, this phone won't disappoint. It glides through BGMI at a smooth 60fps and heating was pretty much non-existent in my usage. The only time I saw the temperature climb &nbsp;was while playing Genshin Impact at 60fps, but honestly, that's understandable &mdash; it's one of the most demanding mobile games out there.</p>

But honestly, it still feels messy. The app drawer is packed with bloatware, random system notifications pop up often, and the Glance lock screen ads are just plain annoying.</p>
<p>I had to uninstall a bunch of apps to make it feel cleaner &mdash; and even then, not everything can be removed. If you prefer clean, stock Android, just know this won't be it.</p>

<p>Let&rsquo;s start with the design because, honestly, it&rsquo;s interesting to say the least. Usually, phones in the same series have at least some family resemblance, right? But not here! These two phones couldn&rsquo;t be more different, whether you&rsquo;re looking at them from the front or the back.</p>
<p>Take the standard X7, for instance. It closely resembles the recently launched Redmi Note 14 Pro. That&rsquo;s because it&rsquo;s essentially the same phone, just dressed in Poco&rsquo;s branding and &nbsp;a different colour scheme.</p>
<p>The X7 Pro, on the other hand, sports a different design language. It is much flatter compared to the X7. Both models feature a vegan leather back with loud yellow-black colour combinations, which is either a love or hate situation for users. You can opt for subtler colours if you like.</p>
<p>If you overlook this big Poco logo, the cheaper X7 actually looks and feels the more premium of the two phones. Its curved front and rear feel great in hand, while the centrally placed camera island looks far better than the Pro&rsquo;s pill-shaped module.</p>
<p>Additionally, the standard X7 has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection for its display, whereas the Pro gets the inferior Gorilla Glass 7i - go figure!</p>
<p>There&rsquo;s more: the standard X7 includes an extra 2MP macro sensor, which is missing on the Pro model. So, aesthetically, the X7 Pro surprisingly feels less impressive compared to its more affordable sibling.</p>
<p>Thankfully, both phones come with an IP69 rating, which is great to have. The standard model also features an IR blaster and a reliable optical fingerprint reader on both models.</p>
<p><strong>Display</strong></p>
<p>Moving on, the X7 boasts a curved 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. In contrast, the Pro version has a slightly larger 6.73-inch flat panel, which is better suited for gaming. Both panels are Widevine L1 certified and support HDR 10+, ensuring a great viewing experience.</p>
<p>However, the X7 has a warmer tint to its display. Both panels are bright enough for outdoor use, with the Pro model reaching an HBM brightness of 1400 nits and the standard X7 at 1200 nits.</p>
<p><strong>Performance &amp; Software</strong></p>
<p>So, since the standard X7 is essentially a rebranded Redmi Note 14 Pro, it is powered by the Dimensity 7300 Ultra chip. It&rsquo;s an efficient mid-range chip, scoring over 600,000 on AnTuTu. But despite the "Ultra" in its name, this chip isn&rsquo;t designed for heavy tasks.</p>
<p>The real star, however, is the brand new Dimensity 8400 Ultra in the Poco X7 Pro. Like its predecessor, it aims to offer flagship-grade performance in the sub-₹30,000 segment. The Antutu and Geekbench scores place it between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 8 Gen 3 in terms of raw performance, which is fantastic for the price. <em>Please watch the video for benchmark scores.</em></p>
<p>It glides through BGMI at 60fps in testing without much issue. There was support for 90fps on BGMI at launch, Poco claims it will be added soon.? Heating was non-existent during gaming, although it's worth noting that it was extremely cold in Delhi at the time of my testing.</p>
<p>Anyway, the X7 Pro is generally a snappy phone to use thanks to its UFS 4.0 storage, which means apps load quickly. The standard X7, however, has UFS 2.2 storage and a lower mid-range chip, which results in micro stutters across the UI from time to time.</p>
<p>The software experience on both models is a mixed bag. The X7 Pro runs the latest HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, while the X7 uses the older Android 14-based HyperOS 1.</p>
<p>Both phones come loaded with a ton of preinstalled apps, which makes the app drawer feel quite crowded. On top of that, system app notifications and the Glance lock screen add to the clutter, making the software experience feel less streamlined.</p>
<p>Poco has also added AI features in the Notes and Gallery apps on the X7 Pro. They have potential but could use a little more fine-tuning to deliver their best experience.</p>
<p><strong>Cameras</strong></p>
<p>Now let&rsquo;s shed some light on the camera capabilities. Both phones feature the same Sony LYT-600 primary sensor and an 8MP ultrawide camera. Interestingly, the standard X7 includes an additional 2MP macro sensor, but it&rsquo;s irrelevant in everyday use.</p>

<p>Despite having the same primary sensor, both phones produce very different photos, likely due to different ISPs in the chipsets. The X7&rsquo;s photos have a softer look and slightly muted colors, while the Pro&rsquo;s images are sharper but can occasionally feel a bit over-processed.</p>
<p>Videos from the main sensor are suitable for casual social uploads, though they don&rsquo;t pack a lot of fine detail.</p>
<p>The 8MP ultrawide performs well on both devices, though the color profiles vary between the two.</p>
<p>As for selfies, the 20MP front camera also shows some differences. The X7 takes the lead here, as the X7 Pro sometimes struggles to properly expose the subject&rsquo;s face.</p>
<p><strong>Battery &amp; Charging</strong></p>
<p>Finally, when it comes to battery and charging, the Poco X7 Pro impresses with its massive 6550mAh battery thanks to cutting-edge Silicon Carbon technology. This allows it to stay impressively slim and light.</p>
<p>A screen time of around 9 hours with mixed to heavy use is easily achievable on this phone. Plus, with 90W fast charging support, recharging doesn&rsquo;t take much time either.</p>
<p>The standard Poco X7 has a comparatively smaller but still impressive 5500mAh battery. It supports 45W fast charging, which is quite adequate for its segment.</p>
<p><strong>Verdict</strong></p>
<p>Ultimately, neither of these two phones are great camera phones, nor do they offer amazing software. However, the Poco X7 Pro is quite a deal and it is totally worth it to stretch your budget a bit over the standard X7. &nbsp;</p>
<p>The Pro offers a much more powerful chip, UFS 4.0 storage, and a significantly bigger battery compared to the standard X7.</p>
<p>The standard X7 offers great value at a lower price point. It also looks and feels more premium than the Pro model, but that&rsquo;s about it.</p>
<p>So, if you&rsquo;re after flagship-grade performance for mid-range money, the X7 Pro is the way to go.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Poco M7 Pro has just launched in India and I&rsquo;ve been using it for about a week now. For a phone priced under Rs 15,000 Rupees, it offers a decent set of specs. What&rsquo;s even more interesting is how closely these specs align with the recently launched Redmi Note 14 5G. That&rsquo;s no surprise considering both Redmi and POCO are sub-brands of Xiaomi.</p>
<p>In this review we dive into what sets the POCO M7 Pro apart, and who should actually consider buying this phone.</p>
<h3><strong>Poco M7 Pro 5G: Design</strong></h3>
<p>Let&rsquo;s start by taking a quick look at the design. The Poco M7 Pro comes in three colors: olive green, grey, and this lovely lavender shade I have here. It&rsquo;s great to see such a nice range of colors in this price segment.</p>
<p>The build is mostly plastic on the back and sides, but I appreciate how resistant it is to fingerprints. Plus, the dual-tone finish with those wavy patterns on the right side adds a unique touch! The design does remind me a lot of the Redmi Note 14 Pro.</p>
<p>One good feature here is the IP64 certification. While it&rsquo;s not the highest water and dust resistance rating, it&rsquo;s definitely a nice bonus for this price range, where such features aren&rsquo;t exactly common.</p>
<p>Another big plus is the front display, which is protected by Gorilla Glass 5&mdash;always a welcome addition for durability.</p>
<p>Overall, I found the design pretty appealing, especially for an affordable phone like this. However, once you hold it, you can definitely tell it&rsquo;s a budget device.</p>
<p>That said, it&rsquo;s not bad at all in terms of ergonomics. The phone weighs 190 grams and has a slim profile under 8mm thick, making it comfortable to hold. The rounded corners also help with grip, and you get some handy essentials like a dual SIM slot with microSD card support and an IR blaster.</p>
<p><strong>Poco M7 Pro 5G: Audio</strong></p>
<p>For those who prefer wired audio, you&rsquo;ll be happy to know it still has a 3.5mm headphone jack. There are even stereo speakers. While the sound quality didn&rsquo;t exactly blow me away, at least it&rsquo;s stereo! And if you like your audio loud, there&rsquo;s a &ldquo;volume mode enhancer&rdquo; that cranks it up to 300%. It&rsquo;s not for everyone, but hey, the option is there.</p>
<h3><strong>Poco M7 Pro 5G: Display</strong></h3>
<p>Poco&rsquo;s gone with a Full HD+ gOLED panel, and it&rsquo;s hard not to be impressed by the sheer specs: 2100 nits of peak brightness, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. Outdoors, the brightness is very solid, making the screen easy to read even under direct sunlight.&nbsp;<br>The refresh rate is also genuinely smooth, making everyday tasks like scrolling or swiping through apps feel snappy, and the stable viewing angles ensure no noticeable color shift even when you tilt the phone. Streaming fans will be happy to know that HDR10+ support elevates the experience with deeper contrasts and richer visuals. However, while the blacks are indeed rich, it can&rsquo;t fully replicate the finesse of higher-end AMOLED panels&mdash;it&rsquo;s good for the price, but you&rsquo;ll notice the difference side-by-side with premium devices.</p>
<p>There&rsquo;s an in-display fingerprint scanner here that works super fast, and feels reliable every time.</p>
<h3><strong>Poco M7 Pro 5G: Battery &amp; Charging</strong></h3>
<p>The POCO M7 Pro &nbsp;also does well in the battery department with its 5,110 mAh battery, easily lasting through a day of regular use. I consistently saw the phone lasting for 1-2 days with ease, with a screen-on time of about 6-7 hours. The 45W charger included in the box charges the phone to 50% in around 35 minutes, which is a handy feature for quick top-ups.</p>
<h3><strong>Poco M7 Pro 5G: Performance</strong></h3>
<p>Under the hood, the Poco M7 Pro runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset. For everyday use&mdash;like casual browsing, social media scrolling, streaming, and messaging&mdash;it gets the job done. It even handles games like BGMI quite well, running smoothly without any noticeable lags.</p>
<p>However, this isn&rsquo;t a performance powerhouse. Multitasking and demanding gaming sessions reveal its limitations, with the CPU Throttle test showing signs of struggle under heavy loads.<br>Then there&rsquo;s the memory and storage standards&mdash;LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. While they&rsquo;re functional, they&rsquo;re also quite outdated by today&rsquo;s standards. USB 2.0 further adds to the &ldquo;old school&rdquo; vibe, and in 2024, this feels like a noticeable miss, especially as faster options become the norm in this price range.</p>
<h3><strong>Poco M7 Pro 5G: Software and Connectivity</strong></h3>
<p>Let&rsquo;s talk software, which has its strengths but doesn&rsquo;t shy away from a few issues. The Poco M7 Pro ships with Xiaomi's HyperOS based on Android 14, and it&rsquo;s smooth and functional overall. Xiaomi is offering two years of OS upgrades and four years of security updates, which feels fair for this price range, but honestly, it would&rsquo;ve been great to see one more year of OS upgrades.</p>
<p>On the downside, there&rsquo;s the usual suspect: bloatware. It&rsquo;s not overwhelming, but it&rsquo;s still there, and while you can uninstall most of the unnecessary apps, it takes time and effort.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Xiaomi also promises future updates will bring AI features like AI Eraser and AI Sky Replacement, which could be fun to use. For now, though, these are promises we&rsquo;ll have to wait and see fulfilled.</p>
<p>Connectivity options like Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and support for 7 5G bands ensure you&rsquo;re covered on the basics, even if there&rsquo;s nothing groundbreaking here.</p>
<h3><strong>Poco M7 Pro 5G: Camera</strong></h3>
<p>Camera wise, The POCO M7 Pro features a 50MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor, and for selfies, you're looking at a 20MP front camera. In general, the camera system does well in favourable lighting conditions&mdash;particularly in daylight. The primary camera does a solid job of capturing fine details, offering decent dynamic range, and delivering fairly accurate colours.</p>
<p>However, there are a couple of issues to consider. The portrait mode struggles with edge detection, so don&rsquo;t expect perfect bokeh effects. As for the &nbsp;selfie camera, &nbsp; it&rsquo;s very much in the average range. In short, the camera system here is not a game-changer, but if you're using it for casual photography in good lighting, it&rsquo;s more than enough.</p>
<h3><strong>Poco M7 Pro 5G: Verdict</strong></h3>
<p>The POCO M7 Pro really gives off Redmi Note 14 5G vibes, but at a more affordable price. The base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage starts at Rs 14,999 excluding discounts, while the 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variant costs Rs 16,999. So, if you&rsquo;re looking to get a good deal, this one makes sense&mdash;you&rsquo;re getting pretty much the same experience but for less money.</p>
<p>That said, the competition in this price range is pretty fierce, with brands like Realme and iQOO offering solid alternatives. The M7 Pro has to compete with some strong contenders, for sure. But if you&rsquo;re someone who wants an affordable 5G phone with a &nbsp;nice design, solid everyday performance and long battery backup, this is definitely a phone worth considering.</p>
