Rio de Janeiro's iconic Christ the Redeemer statue donned Pele's bright-yellow Brazil jersey on Friday night to honour the first anniversary of the soccer legend's death.
The 98-foot (30 metre) statue was illuminated with an image of the national jersey, including the famed number 10 and Pele's signature.
The Brazilian king of soccer won a record three World Cups and became one of the most commanding sports figures of the last century.
He died aged 82 on December 29, 2022.
Pel&eacute; had undergone treatment for colon cancer since 2021.
The medical centre where he had been hospitalized said he died of multiple organ failure as a result of the cancer.
The statue, viewed as a global symbol of Christianity, was inaugurated nearly 100 years ago, and a priest came up with the idea for it even earlier, according to the monument&rsquo;s official site.
Today, the Christ statue with its arms wide open welcomes millions of selfie-snapping tourists each year.
In 2017, it was elected as one of the new seven Wonders of the World.

Supporters flocked to the mausoleum, which is covered in artificial grass, surrounded by images of fans on the stands of a stadium and endless sounds of cheers, as if Pel&eacute; was still playing.
The mausoleum was planned by the owner of the cemetery, a close friend of Pel&eacute;'s.
Fans willing to attend must register on the cemetery's website for visitation between Mondays and Fridays.

Iconic soccer star Pele died on December 29 after a brief battle with colon cancer. He was 82.
After the news of his demise broke, tributes to the late sports hero immediately started to pour in on social media.
Actor Abhishek Bachchan took to social media and shared a series of pictures of the soccer legend. He wrote, 'As a child my father introduced me to Pel&eacute; and his magic. And thus began a lifelong love for football. We had shelves filled with VHS tapes of his and the Brazilian team&rsquo;s matches. I would religiously watch them with my father. A magician we&rsquo;ve all been blessed to witness. A few years ago, whilst visiting India I somehow managed to get an autographed jersey of his. It has pride of placement in my office. Thank you, sir for teaching us about joga bonito and being such a hero and idol to billions. Rest in Peace to the greatest! @pele'
Singer Adnan Sami also paid a tribute on social media and thanked Pele for the magical moments.
