In a video the dentist instructed viewers to stop nail-biting, teeth grinding and steer clear of toothpicks. These habits may lead to flat and sensitive teeth along with injured and receding gums.
Apart from this, dentists have also warned against consuming energy drinks and crushing ice with your teeth. Ice can fracture or break parts of your teeth as well as cause cracks in your enamel.

Apart from that, about 380,000 new cases of oral cancers are diagnosed every year.&nbsp;

Researchers suggest that poor oral hygiene can lead to bacteria in the blood, causing inflammation in the body which increases the risk of A-fib or irregular heartbeat and heart failure.

The study was conducted on 161,286 people between the ages of 40 and 79 who had no history of A-fib or heart failure. During the research, participants were asked questions about their lifestyle, oral health and oral hygiene habits.&nbsp;They&nbsp;also underwent some laboratory tests, which included blood tests, urine tests and blood pressure readings.
Over a median follow-up of 10.5 years, around 3.0% of participants developed A-fib while 4.9% suffered from heart failure. As per the findings, brushing teeth three or more times a day can reduce the risk of A-fib by 10% and lower the risk of heart failure by 12%.

Gum disease increases the risk of developing mental health problems by 37%, a study shows.

According to researchers from the University of Birmingham, developing gum disease and oral health issues can increase a person&rsquo;s risk of mental health problems such as anxiety or depression by 37 percent. The study was published in the BMJ Open Journal.

For the study, researchers examined 64,379 patients with a medical history of gum disease for a period of 3 years. These patients&rsquo; records were then compared to those of 251,161 patients who had no record of gum disease.&nbsp;
As per the findings, those patients with a recorded history of gum disease were more likely to be diagnosed with mental health problems, compared to those not suffering from any oral health issues.
