Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters here, Union minister Bhupender Yadav said Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides conferred the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, the country&rsquo;s highest civilian honour, on the prime minister for his leadership and contributions at international levels.
This is the 23rd such international honour that Modi has received so far from various countries, Yadav said.
&ldquo;It is a moment of happiness and pride for all of us that he has received the 23rd such honour at the international level. It is definitely a matter of pride for India as well,&rdquo; the senior BJP leader told reporters.
Later, in a post on X, Yadav wrote, "This honour is a testament to the rise of India&rsquo;s economic might, and diplomatic assertiveness in the global community." Hailing the bestowing of Cyprus&rsquo; highest civilian honour on Modi, the BJP wrote on X, &ldquo;No prime minister in India&rsquo;s history has commanded such decisive influence on the global stage as Shri Narendra Modi.&rdquo; Union minister Nitin Gadkari said this distinguished recognition reflects the enduring friendship between India and Cyprus, built on mutual trust, respect, and common aspirations.
&ldquo;A proud moment for every Indian,&rdquo; Gadkari said in a post on X.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging the "deplorable" conditions in residential hostels for Dalit, ST, EBC, OBC and minority students and the delay in post-matric scholarships for those from marginalised communities.
In his letter to Modi, Gandhi urged the PM to resolve these two critical issues which he said hinder education opportunities for the 90 per cent of students who are from marginalised communities.
"Firstly, the conditions in residential hostels for students from Dalit, ST, EBC, OBC and minority communities are deplorable. During a recent visit to Ambedkar Hostel in Darbhanga, Bihar, students complained about single rooms which 6-7 students were forced to share, unhygienic toilets, unsafe drinking water, lack of mess facilities, and no access to libraries or the internet," the Congress leader said.
"Secondly, post-matric scholarships for students from marginalised communities are plagued by delays and failures," Gandhi said and cited the example of Bihar where he claimed the scholarship portal was non-functional for three years and no student received a scholarship in 2021-22.
"Even thereafter, the number of Dalit students receiving scholarships fell by nearly half, from 1.36 lakh in FY23 to 0.69 lakh in FY24. Students further complain that the scholarship amounts are insultingly low," Gandhi said in his letter to Modi dated June 10.
"While I have cited examples from Bihar, these failures are widespread across the country. I urge the government to immediately take two actions to remedy these failures," he said.
Gandhi called for audit every hostel for students from Dalit, Scheduled Tribes (ST), Economically Backward Class (EBC), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and minority communities to ensure good infrastructure, sanitation, food and academic facilities; and allocate adequate funds to address deficiencies.
He also appealed for disbursement of post-matric scholarships on time, increasing scholarship amounts, and improving execution by working closely with state governments.
"I am sure you agree that India cannot progress unless youth from marginalised communities progress. I look forward to your positive response," Gandhi said in his letter to Modi.

Shah said when PM Modi took over the reins of the country in 2014, there was policy paralysis in the country.
He said there were no policies, no leadership and scams were at their peak in the government the economy was in shambles and the governance system was directionless.
The home minister said during the "11 years of seva", the speed and scale of the country's development have been changed by 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance'.
"PM Shri @narendramodi ji brought farmers, women, backwards, Dalits and marginalised to the centre of governance and created a work culture of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas instead of appeasement," he said.
Shah said the 11 years of the Modi government have also proved to be a milestone in the direction of national security.
"Naxalism is on its last legs, peace has been established in Jammu-Kashmir and the Northeast, India now responds to terrorist attacks by entering the homes of terrorists. This shows the changing picture of India under the Modi government," he said.

"We are committed to extend full cooperation in the security of Mauritius' Exclusive Economic Zone," the prime minister said in his media statement.
The unveiling of the new vision came 10 years after the prime minister announced during his visit to Mauritius in 2015 New Delhi's SAGAR or Security and Growth for All in the Region policy that formed the bedrock for India's engagement with the Indian Ocean Region.
"We have taken the SAGAR vision forward for the stability and prosperity of this entire region. PM Modi said the new approach will focus on the spirit of trade for development, capacity building for sustainable growth, and mutual security for a shared future.
"Under this, cooperation will be ensured through technology sharing, concessional loans and grants." The Indian prime minister also said New Delhi will cooperate in building the new Parliament building in Mauritius and it will be a gift to the island nation from the 'Mother of Democracy'.
Delving into strategic cooperation between the two nations, PM Modi said every possible help will be provided to Mauritius to help it meet the needs of its Coast Guard and that New Delhi will assist in the establishment of a police academy and national maritime information sharing centre in the country.
"Cooperation on white shipping, blue economy and hydrography will be strengthened. We fully respect Mauritius' sovereignty in the context of Chagos," he said.
India has been supporting the island nation in its efforts to reach a mutually beneficial deal with the UK over the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean.
In October last year, the UK announced its decision to hand over the sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius after more than half a century under a historic agreement.
Under the deal, sealed during the tenure of previous Mauritian PM Pravind Jugnauth, the UK would give up sovereignty over the Chagos Islands but would maintain a 99-year lease over the UK-US military airbase on the largest island, Diego Garcia.
However, the new Mauritius government led by Ramgoolam demanded the reopening of talks with the UK over the Chagos Islands as it sought a relook at the deal.
In his remarks, PM Modi said he and Ramgoolam decided to give the status of "Enhanced Strategic Partnership" to the India-Mauritius ties.
"We are each other's partners on the path of economic and social progress. Be it a natural disaster or the COVID disaster, we have always supported each other." "Be it defence or education, health or space, we are walking shoulder to shoulder in every field," he said.
"In the last 10 years, we have added many new dimensions to our relations. We have set new records in development cooperation and capacity building," PM Modi said.
The prime minister also announced several development projects to be implemented in Mauritius with India's assistance.
Work will be done to modernise the 100-kilometer-long water pipeline, he said.
In the second phase of community development projects, new projects worth 500 million Mauritian rupees would be started, he added.
We have also agreed to settle mutual trade in local currencies, PM Modi said.
The prime minister also mentioned various India-assisted projects in the island nation that included "metro express for speed in Mauritius, supreme court building for justice, social housing for comfortable stay, ENT hospital for good health, UPI and Rupay Card to promote business and tourism." PM Modi and Ramgoolam also dedicated to Mauritius the "Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Public Service and Innovation".
The prime minister also touched upon the people-to-people connection between the two nations.
"We will work together for the use of AI (artificial intelligence) and DPI, which is digital public infrastructure in human development," PM Modi said.
"For the people of Mauritius, facilities will be provided for Char Dham Yatra and Ramayana trail in India." India has close and longstanding relations with Mauritius, an island nation in the Western Indian Ocean.
A key reason for the special ties is the fact that Indian-origin people comprise nearly 70 per cent of the island nation's population of 1.2 million.

Spread over 3,000 acres, Vantara is located at Reliance Industries' Jamnagar refinery complex. It is a rescue centre dedicated to the welfare of captive elephants and wildlife, providing sanctuary, rehabilitation and medical care to animals rescued from abuse and exploitation.
Modi said in a post on X, "Inaugurated Vantara, a unique wildlife conservation, rescue and rehabilitation initiative, which provides a safe haven for animals while promoting ecological sustainability and wildlife welfare. I commend Anant Ambani and his entire team for this very compassionate effort."
"An effort like Vantara is truly commendable, a vibrant example of our centuries-old ethos of protecting those we share our planet with," he said, sharing pictures from his visit.
At Vantara, Modi said he saw an elephant which was the victim of an acid attack.
"The elephant was being treated with utmost care. There were other elephants, too, which were blinded and that, too, ironically by their mahout. Another elephant was hit by a speeding truck. This underscores an important question -- how can people be so careless and cruel?" he said.
"Let us put an end to such irresponsibility and focus on kindness towards animals," he added.
There were other instances, too, Modi said and added that a lioness suffered severe spinal injuries after it was hit by a vehicle.
"She was getting proper care. A leopard cub abandoned by her family got a new lease of life, with proper nutritional care. I compliment the team at Vantara for the care given to several such animals," the prime minister said.
Vantara is home to more than 2,000 species and over 1.5 lakh rescued, endangered and threatened animals.
Modi explored various facilities at the centre and closely interacted with the various species of animals rehabilitated there.
Vantara said in a statement, "The prime minister patted an okapi, came face to face with chimpanzees in open who were got from a facility where they were kept as pets, hugged and lovingly played with orangutan who were earlier kept in an over-crowded facility, saw up close a hippopotamus which was under water, saw crocodiles, undertook a walk in between zebras, fed a giraffe and a rhino calf."
Modi also saw a large python, a unique two-headed snake, a two-headed turtle, tapirs, leopard cubs which were left in an agricultural field and later spotted by villagers and rescued, giant otters, bongos (antelope), and seals. He saw elephants in their jacuzzi.
With a glass partition in between, Modi sat face to face with snow tigers, white lion and a snow leopard.

"For the first time in the history of Bharat, there is an occasion when the whole world is so optimistic about it," Modi said after inaugurating the mega 'Invest Madhya Pradesh - Global Investors Summit-2025' in Bhopal.
The commoners and economists, countries and institutions worldwide are optimistic about India and have great expectations from Bharat, he said at the summit, aimed to showcase MP's infinite possibilities for investors and industrialists.
"The world's future is in India" - such comments in the past weeks have bolstered the zeal of investors, he said.
Modi said the World Bank has expressed confidence that India will continue to be the world's fastest growing economy in the coming years.
He also said the Deregulation Commission will help create investment-friendly regulatory ecosystem in states.
A UN organisation on climate change has said Bharat is a "superpower of solar power" and that while many countries only talk, India shows results, Modi said.
India is emerging as the top supply chain for global aerospace firms. Textile, tourism and technology sectors will generate crores of jobs in years to come, he said.
"I can quote and give many instances of the world's confidence in Bharat", and such statements boost the confidence of states, he said.
"In the past decade, India's energy sector brought unprecedented growth, especially in green energy. Bharat has done what was unimaginable," Modi said.
"In the past 10 years, nearly 70 billion dollars, over five trillion rupees were invested in renewable energy sector. In last year alone, over 10 lakh jobs were generated in clean energy space. MP has reaped immensely from this boom in energy sector," he said.
The PM unveiled the MP government's 18 new policies, aimed at attracting major investment in the BJP-ruled state.
"With a strong talent pool and thriving industries, Madhya Pradesh is becoming a preferred business destination," he said.
"This is the time, and right time, to invest in the state," Modi said.
"The speed of development in MP has doubled after the formation of the 'double engine' government in the state," he said.
Modi further said MP is among the leading states in India's electric vehicles revolution.
"MP, where once roads were not motorable, buses couldn't move, is seeing an e-vehicle revolution. By January 2025, nearly 2 lakh EVs were registered in MP. This is a 90 per cent growth. This shows MP is turning into a new manufacturing destination," he added.
There are several opportunities in the health and wellness sector. The world is liking the 'heal in India' mantra, he said.
Modi said in the past two decades, MP has seen lot of transformations.
There was a time when there was a big crisis of electricity and water, and law and order was even worse. In such a scenario, industrial development was difficult, he noted.
But in the past 20 years, with the help of people, the BJP state government focused on governance. Two decades ago, people used to stay away from investing here, and now it is among the top states for investment, Modi said.
MP is the fifth largest state in the country in terms of population. It is among the top states in agriculture and in the top five in minerals, he said.
"Madhya Pradesh is blessed with Maa Narmada (river), the life-giver," the PM said.
MP has all possibilities and potential to be among the top states, Modi said.
"In the past decade, India has seen infrastructure boom. I can say, MP has hugely benefited by it," he added.
A large area of Delhi-Mumbai expressway passes through MP. The state is getting connectivity to Mumbai ports and north India market, he said.
MP has an over 5-lakh-km road network. Its industrial corridors are getting connected to modern expressways. This for sure means MP's logistic sector growth, Modi said.
In terms of air connectivity, Gwalior and Jabalpur terminals have been expanded. "MP's railway network is being modernised...100 per cent electrification of railways has been done in MP," he said.
"Pictures of the Rani Kamlapati station (in Bhopal) have enthralled everyone. On this line, 80 railway stations under Amrit Bharat station scheme will be modernised in the state," Modi said.
"Today, MP is a power surplus state with nearly 31,000 mw generation capacity, with 30 per cent clean energy," he said.
MP has over 300 industrial zones and more are to come, he said, adding there are huge possibilities of bountiful return for all investors in the state.

Noting the importance of water security for industrial development, Modi said MP was doing remarkable work in water conservation.

"The river interlinking mega mission is on in MP. It will benefit its farming and industry. Recently, the Rs 45,000 crore Ken-Betwa rivers interlinking work started in MP. It will enhance productivity on 10 lakh hectare land," Modi said.
CM Yadav said with the Global Investors Summit being held here, MP will make its identity as a major global investment destination.

The government is committed to double MP's economy in the next five years and the state has decided to observe 2025 as the year of industries and employment, as part of the commitment to make India a developed nation by 2047, he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the BJP&rsquo;s triumph, attributing it to the "good governance" of the party both at the Centre and in states where it is in power.

We are humbled and honored to receive these blessings. It is our guarantee that we will leave no stone unturned in developing Delhi, improving the overall quality of life for the people, and ensuring that Delhi has a prime role to play in building a Viksit Bharat," Modi stated in a post on X.

Among the prominent AAP leaders who lost the elections were former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, former ministers Somnath Bharti and Satyendra Jain, as well as party leaders Awadh Ojha and Durgesh Pathak.
Chief Minister Atishi, however, secured a win from the Kalkaji constituency.
Accepting the people&rsquo;s mandate, Kejriwal congratulated BJP on its victory.

"We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP for this victory and I hope they will fulfill all the promises for which people have voted for them," Kejriwal said in a video posted on X.
"We have done a lot of work in the field of health, education, and infrastructure over the last 10 years. We will not only play the role of a constructive opposition but will also remain among the people and continue to serve them. We did not come into politics for the sake of power, we considered politics as a medium through which the people can be served," he added.
The election results largely aligned with exit poll predictions, which had indicated a BJP victory.
In the New Delhi constituency, BJP&rsquo;s Parvesh Verma defeated Kejriwal by over 4,000 votes. Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit received 4,568 votes. Atishi won from Kalkaji, defeating BJP&rsquo;s Ramesh Bidhuri by over 3,500 votes, while Congress&rsquo;s Alka Lamba secured 4,392 votes.

Sisodia lost in Jangpura to BJP&rsquo;s Tarvinder Singh Marwah by a narrow margin of 675 votes. Conceding defeat, he expressed hope that the winning candidate would serve the constituency well.
Among other winners, Gopal Rai secured the Babarpur seat, defeating BJP&rsquo;s Anil Kumar Vashisht by 18,994 votes. Kailash Gahlot, who had switched from AAP to BJP before the elections, won from Bijwasan, defeating AAP&rsquo;s Surender Bhardwaj.
Several BJP leaders also emerged victorious, including Vijender Gupta from Rohini, Kapil Mishra from Karawal Nagar, and Ravinder Singh Negi from Patparganj.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed gratitude to the people of Delhi for their support.

Her remarks were seen as a reference to the assault allegations she made against Kejriwal&rsquo;s personal aide, Bibhav Kumar.
AAP had previously dominated the last two Delhi Assembly elections, securing 62 out of 70 seats in 2020 and 67 seats in 2015.
Vote counting began on Saturday morning following polling on February 5.
