From philosophers to psychologists, to actors and influencers, everyone has had something to say about money and happiness. But here&rsquo;s the big question&hellip; can money really buy happiness?"
Well, what do you think? Let&rsquo;s imagine: If you&rsquo;re making 50 lakh rupees a year, would that make you happier than someone just scraping by? According to recent studies, the answer could be&hellip; yes.
Matthew A. Killingsworth, a prominent happiness researcher, has spent years studying the link between money and happiness.
His research shows something fascinating: the wealthier you are, the happier you&rsquo;re likely to feel.
And here&rsquo;s the kicker &mdash; there might be no limit to how high happiness can go with wealth.
His 2024 report finds that the wealthiest, like those worth between $3 million to nearly $8 million, are even happier than people with &lsquo;only&rsquo; six-figure incomes.
This 'money-happiness curve,' as he calls it, keeps going up with income, and it doesn&rsquo;t flatten out at higher levels &mdash; even for those making $500,000 a year.
Survey data backs this up: people earning around $30,000 give their lives an average happiness rating of about 4 out of 7. But those making $500,000 or more rate their happiness over 5, and multimillionaires? Closer to 6!"
But Killingsworth himself has said it&rsquo;s not just about having money to buy more stuff.

He believes there&rsquo;s something deeper about financial security and freedom that contributes to happiness. Still, he warns, money isn&rsquo;t everything.
According to the Pew Research Center, Americans report that connections with friends and family often bring them more meaning than material wealth.
Killingsworth agrees, saying it&rsquo;s entirely possible to be rich and miserable or poor and happy.
He cautions that focusing solely on money can be risky, as relationships and purpose may ultimately bring more lasting happiness.
In fact, back in 2010, Nobel laureates Daniel Kahneman and Angus Deaton found that happiness only increased with income up to $75,000.
After that, they suggested, additional income didn&rsquo;t bring more happiness.
But Killingsworth&rsquo;s new research tells a different story. His data from 2021 showed that higher income didn&rsquo;t just raise happiness &mdash; it reduced negative feelings too.
So, what&rsquo;s the takeaway? While having more money can lead to more happiness, it&rsquo;s important to remember that wealth isn&rsquo;t everything.
A balanced life, strong relationships, and meaningful experiences may ultimately matter even more.

India is reportedly the biggest recipient of overseas money. The country hit a record 12% rise Y-O-Y which is $100 billion in remittances.&nbsp;

TerraPay, a London-based mobile payments provider has suggested that India is the biggest recipient of money from overseas, with money flowing from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and the US. In 2022, India hit a record $100 billion in remittances. This was a 12% rise year on year.&nbsp;
The rise in remittances in 2022 is due to the reopen of the countries after the pandemic as the gulf countries that has a large number of Indian popualation increased the vaccination pace. Another important reason was the resumption of travel which let the migrant workers to go for worker. Similarly high-skilled Indian migrants from countries like UK, US and Australia also were sending money. As per World Bank the depreciation of rupee against dollar also helped in increasing the remittance value to India&nbsp;
World Bank estimated that lower and middle income families across the world received about $630 billion in 2022. This was roughly same as the foreign direct investment in those countries.&nbsp;
As per TerraPay, Phillipines is also one of the ten biggest receivers of foreign money. TerraPay observed that the popularity of digital payment is one of the important reasons of the rise in overseas money.&nbsp;
As per Bloomberg, TerraPay suspended payments through Russia in 2022 and is relatively new to Latin America and China, so these areas are likely underrepresented in this data.&nbsp;

The customs has arrested two foreign nationals with USD 90,000 and more than 2.5 kg of gold paste concealed in books and undergarments in separate operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here, an official said on Tuesday.
A man from Azerbaijan travelling to Sharjah, was intercepted by the customs team on Sunday and USD 90,000 worth Rs 73 lakh were recovered from his possession, the official said.
The money was found hidden in books that the accused was carrying, he said.
In a similar operation, a man from Palestine, who had arrived from Dubai, was caught with more than 2.5 kg of gold paste valued at Rs 1.30 crore, the official said.
The traveller had concealed the gold paste in his undergarment, he said.
The duo has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Customs Act and further investigation is underway, the official added.

For the study, researchers from New York University &amp; University of California looked into human altruism and its effects. They gathered 133 participants and handed them $10 each. The participants were then separated into two groups: one tasked to buy a gift for themselves, the other to buy a gift for someone else.&nbsp;
After comparing the results, researchers found that the group who spent the money on others felt happier than the group who spent it on themselves. They also observed that the amount spent doesn&rsquo;t have a significant contribution to happiness.

Unexpected incidents keep on happening in our daily lives but the ones which bring a smile to the face are the best and most unforgettable ones. And what if you get some cash luckily that doesn't belong to you.
One such incident has been reported in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district. A man went to the ATM of a private bank in Khaparkheda town to withdraw ₹500 but instead of getting 5 notes of ₹100, he got 5 notes of ₹500 so in total ₹2500. The man got surprised when he got ₹2,500. He repeated the process to try his luck and got the same results.
After the news surfaced a huge crowd gathered outside the ATM to try the same thing. After some time local police reached the spot to shut down the ATM and informed the bank. The official said there was some technical glitch due to which ATM dispensed extra money.

One such incident has been reported in Maharashtra&rsquo;s Nagpur district. A man went to the ATM of a private bank to withdraw ₹500 but instead of getting 5 notes of ₹100, he got 5 notes of ₹500 which is a total of ₹2500. Surprised, he repeated the process to try his luck and got the same results.
After the news spread a huge crowd gathered outside the ATM to try the same thing. After some time local police reached the spot to shut down the ATM and informed the bank.&nbsp; The official said there was some technical glitch due to which ATM dispensed extra money.

Thousands of people were killed but our money is still with Pakistan. It has now come to around Rs 1 trillion. In Pakistani currency it comes to Rs 2.5 trillion. Each bullet that our soldiers face is paid by our money. I can't say anything about political parties who are in government but request the court to pass directions."

 While Ghani ran away with stacks of people's cash, Mazar-e-sharif strongman and US-allied war lord General Abdul Rashid Dostum fled a day earlier leaving behind the gaudy display of his massive fortunes.&nbsp;
 Videos showed Taliban fighters inside the ornate house of General Dostum full of opulent furniture, chandeliers and gold crockery.&nbsp;
 The images General Dostum's opulence were shocking when seen in contrast with extreme poverty of the war-ravaged country.&nbsp;
 Ghani and Dostum are just latest entrants in the hall of shame littered with runaway rulers.&nbsp;
