Content creators are raking in the moolah. Indian YouTube creators contributed Rs 6,800 crore to the country's GDP (gross domestic product) in 2020.

A total of 6,83,900 full-time equivalent jobs were supported by the YouTube creative ecosystem in 2020, YouTube wrote in a recent blog quoting analysis by Oxford Economics.

While there are eight ways to monetise YouTube content, 72% of creative entrepreneurs agree that the revenue they receive from ads placed on their YouTube content is an important source of income for them.

In India, over 40,000 channels have over 1 lakh subscribers, an increase of over 45% year-over-year. Over 4,000 channels have over 1 million (10 lakh) subscribers, an increase of over 50% year-over-year.

According to the estimates released by the government last year, YouTube has 448 million users in the country.

YouTube is widely used by many small businesses in India and it also helps people find these businesses. 90% of small and medium businesses (SMBs) with a YouTube channel agreed that the platform played a role in helping them grow their customer base.

94% of students (aged 18+) who use YouTube reported using YouTube to support their assignments or personal study. 81% of teachers who use YouTube agreed that YouTube gives students the flexibility to learn at their own pace. 98% of users said they use YouTube to gather information and knowledge.

T-Series is the most subscribed YouTube channel in the world with 206 million (20.6 crore) subscribers. SET India stood at number three with 126 million subscribers.
