A study conducted at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health found that air pollution has a negative effect on the bone density of postmenopausal women.&nbsp;
Even though studies on effects of air pollution on human bones have been done earlier, it was done for the first time on effects of air pollution on the bone density of postmenopausal women.&nbsp;
This study was published in the e-Clinical Medicine Journal. The team used data from the Women's health initiative study, which was conducted on 1,61,808 postmenopausal women.&nbsp;
Scientists measured bone mineral density at the beginning of the experiment and then followed-up after one year, three years and six years using dual energy X-rays.&nbsp; It was concluded that the spinal cord of postmenopausal women was the most damaged and the major reason behind it was nitrous oxide.&nbsp;

Myth 1:&nbsp;You don't need to visit a gynecologist till you're pregnant or have a problem
There's more to your system than the changes of pregnancy. For better gynae health, you can get an internal check-up and a Pap smear test every three years after 21 years of age. An&nbsp;HPV test after 30 years of age, a breast examination test&nbsp;every year, an ultrasound of the pelvis and a mammography every year after 40 years of age.
Myth 2:&nbsp;It's not essential to get the&nbsp;HPV vaccination or Pap smear test done

A new study suggests&nbsp;that dancing could improve cholesterol levels, physical fitness, self-image and self-esteem in postmenopausal women.

Postmenopausal women often find it difficult to maintain a steady weight and healthy cholesterol level. A new study published in the journal of The North American Menopause Society (NAMS), found that dancing can help postmenopausal women lower cholesterol levels and improve their overall fitness and self-esteem.
After menopause, women are more likely to experience weight gain and metabolic disturbances. Together, these changes may increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Researchers evaluated a total of 36 postmenopausal participants for 16 weeks, who danced three times per week for 90 minutes each day. While the sample size of the study was small, it suggested some amazing benefits of a three-times-weekly dance regimen in improving the lipid profile, the functional fitness of postmenopausal women and their self-image and sense&nbsp;of self-esteem.
Dancing is particularly attractive for older women because it is inexpensive, coupled with a low risk of injury. It also helps improve balance, overall strength, gait, postural control and overall physical performance.
