Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai will participate in a Pakistan-hosted summit focused on girls' education. She aims to advocate for the protection of educational rights and hold the Taliban accountable for their actions against Afghan women and girls.

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai will attend a summit on girls' education hosted by her native Pakistan, where she was nearly killed by militants as a schoolgirl.
Yousafzai was evacuated from the country in 2012 after being shot by the Pakistan Taliban, who were enraged by her activism, and she has returned to the country only a handful of times since.
A spokesperson for the Malala Fund charity confirmed Yousafzai will attend the conference in person.

"I am excited to join Muslim leaders from around the world for a critical conference on girls' education," she said Friday in a post on X.
"On Sunday, I will speak about protecting rights for all girls to go to school, and why leaders must hold the Taliban accountable for their crimes against Afghan women &amp; girls."
Pakistan's neighbour Afghanistan is the only country in the world where girls and women are banned from going to school and university.
Since returning to power in 2021, the Taliban government has imposed an austere version of Islamic law which the United Nations has called "gender apartheid".
Girls are only allowed to attend primary school, while women are largely restricted to working in segregated environments in health or education.
The Taliban administration claims that Islamic law "guarantees" the rights of Afghan men and women.
The two-day summit will be held in Pakistan's capital Islamabad on Saturday and Sunday, focusing on girls' education in Muslim communities.
It will be inaugurated by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and bring together ministers and ambassadors from 44 countries as well as representatives from the UN and World Bank.
The summit will confirm "the shared commitment of (the) Muslim community to empower girls through education", according to a government statement.
Yousafzai became a household name when she was attacked in 2012 by Pakistani Taliban militants on a school bus in the remote Swat valley near the border with Afghanistan.
Militancy led by the Pakistani Taliban erupted in the region as the war between the Afghan Taliban and NATO forces raged across the border.
She was evacuated to the United Kingdom and went on to become a global advocate for girls' education and the youngest ever Nobel Peace prize winner at the age of 17.

Malala mentioned the situation in Afghanistan and hoped to live in a world where every girl could freely enjoy music. All forms of entertainment, including music were banned by Taliban in Swat valley, where Malala spent her childhood. &nbsp;

Drawing parallels with Mala Yousafzai who was shot in Pakistan for advocating women's rights, Yana Mir said, 'I am not a Malala Yousafzai. I am not a Malala Yousafzai, because I will never have to run away from my home country.'
Yana Mir calls herself Kashmir's first female vlogger. She is a journalist too. In her speech, she said, 'I am free, and I am safe in my country India, in my home in Kashmir which is part of India.'
"But I object to you, Malala Yousafzai, defaming my country, my progressing homeland, by calling it 'oppressed'. I object to all such 'toolkit members' on social media and foreign media who never cared to visit Indian Kashmir, but, fabricate stories of 'oppression' from there", said Yana Mir.&nbsp;
Yana Mir further said, 'I urge you all to stop polarising Indians on grounds of religion, we won't allow you to break up us. I hope our perpetrators living in the UK in Pakistan will stop maligning my country.'

Women's rights activist Malala Yousafzai has slammed the Taliban for ordering Afghanistan women to cover themselves up from head to toe. 
The Nobel Peace Laureate tweeted that the Taliban wants to erase girls and women from all public life in Afghanistan. She added that hardline group wants to keep girls out of school and women out of work and also deny them the ability to travel without a male family member. 
She further tweeted that the world must not lose their sense of alarm for Afghan women as Taliban will continue to break their promise. 
Malala added that as women continue to take to the streets to fight for their rights, the world, especially people from Muslim countries, must stand with them. 
The Taliban diktat calls for women to only show their eyes and recommends they wear the head-to-toe burqa. It also says that women should leave the home only when necessary, and that male relatives would face punishment — starting with a summons and escalating up to court hearings and jail time — for women's dress code violations.
It was the latest in a series of repressive edicts issued by the Taliban leadership, not all of which have been implemented. Last month for example the Taliban forbade women to travel alone, but after a day of opposition, that has since been silently ignored.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said it was deeply concerned with what appeared to be a formal directive that would be implemented and enforced, adding that it would seek clarifications from the Taliban about the decision.
“This decision contradicts numerous assurances regarding respect for and protection of all Afghans' human rights, including those of women and girls, that had been provided to the international community by Taliban representatives during discussions and negotiations over the past decade,” it said in a statement.

The hijab debate in Karnataka has started getting international attention.&nbsp;Malala Yousafzai, a Nobel Peace laureate and activist for girl education, tweeted on the issue.
Malala said, "Refusing to let girls go to school in their hijabs is horrifying. Objectification of women persists - for wearing less or more. Indian leaders must stop the marginalisation of Muslim women."

Malala, who was born in Pakistan, was shot by Taliban terrorists when she was 15.&nbsp;She was targeted for seeking the right to education in Taliban-controlled Swat Valley.&nbsp;Malala survived the attack, and became a champion for girls' right to study.&nbsp;She became the youngest-ever Nobel laureate in 2014.
However, the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is ruling Karnataka, did not take kindly to Malala's advice.&nbsp;CT Ravi tweeted, "Who is this interfering in the internal affairs of India? Shouldn't she be hiding behind her burqa?"
Karnataka has become ground zero for a debate on the right to sport religious symbols inside classrooms which mandate a uniform dress code.&nbsp;The tension has risen to the point that the state government on February 8 announced the closure of schools and colleges for three days.
The row began in January this year with some hijab-wearing girls being denied entry into class at&nbsp;the Government Girls PU College in Udupi.&nbsp;Similar scenes then played out at other institutes in the region.&nbsp;Some students belonging to another community also wore saffron scarves to counter the practice of wearing Islamic headgear by some Muslim girl students.
This led to the Karnataka government banning&nbsp;clothes which can "disturb equality, integrity, and public order" in schools and colleges.&nbsp;The Karnataka high court is now hearing a petition filed by some Muslim students seeking the right to wear hijab in classrooms.
