On a sweltering afternoon with a real feel of 40&deg;C, LSG's opening pair of Aiden Markram (47 off 28; 4x4, 2x6) and Marsh (81 off 48; 6x4, 5x6) gave them a blazing start, adding 99 runs off just 62 balls after being put in to bat.
Pooran then lit up the evening with his 36-ball unbeaten 87, studded with seven fours and eight sixes, to power them to their second highest IPL total.
The lefthander cleverly targeted the short leg-side boundary from the dressing room end, and smashed Harshit Rana for two massive sixes over the leg-side to start the 17th over -- regaining the Orange Cap from Marsh in the process.
Such was the domination that LSG reached 95 without loss at the halfway stage and then added 143 in the last 10 overs with Pooran leading the carnage.
It was a clinical batting performance from LSG's top-three. Markram's early impetus, Marsh's consistency, and Pooran&rsquo;s finishing fireworks left KKR completely outclassed on their preferred dry and sticky wicket.
Markram was the early aggressor, plundering Spencer Johnson for 18 runs in his second over. He lofted two fours and a six off successive deliveries.
KKR&rsquo;s most economical bowler, Vaibhav Arora, began impressively with a tight off-stump line, conceding just eight runs in his first two overs but found little support from the other end.
KKR turned to Varun Chakravarthy in the fifth over to stem the flow of run. He initially applied the brakes, conceding just 16 runs from his first three overs. But with both openers well set, the breakthrough never came.
Marsh was particularly fluent, working the gaps with ease, while Markram powered his way to 47 before Harshit Rana finally broke the stand in the 11th over with an off-cutter that rattled the stumps.
But if KKR hoped for respite, Pooran had other ideas. The left-hander launched a brutal assault, racing to his third IPL fifty in just 21 balls as he toyed with the KKR bowlers.
Marsh and Pooran added 71 runs off 30 balls for the second wicket, before the Australian fell to Rana after completing his fifty in 36 balls.
But Pooran ensured the momentum never dipped, smashing Varun for a six and four in the 14th over -- the spinner&rsquo;s most expensive of the evening &mdash; which went for 16 runs. In the middle overs, LSG plundered 75 runs, setting themselves up for a huge total.
KKR&rsquo;s bowlers had little to offer on their traditionally slow and dry surface.
Varun finished with 0/31, while Johnson was taken apart for 46 runs in his three. Sunil Narine, too, was expensive, leaking 33 from his three overs without a wicket.
Arora remained KKR&rsquo;s standout bowler, conceding just 35 runs from his four overs, but lacked support from the rest.
Andre Russell, usually deployed as a partnership-breaker, came on only in the 16th over in a baffling decision but by then LSG had made 170.

"We have informed the BCCI, and there is still time to take a final call. Even last year, a scheduled IPL match on Ram Navami had to be rescheduled."
The clash between KKR and LSG, owned by RPSG Group chairman Sanjiv Goenka, was expected to draw a packed house, with both teams boasting strong local support.
Last season, the IPL fixture between KKR and Rajasthan Royals was also rescheduled due to security concerns on Ram Navami.
Glittering opening ceremony
The 2025 IPL season will begin at Eden Gardens on March 22, with defending champions KKR taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Lucknow never looked on track to chase that total down as they lost Arshin Kulkarni for 9.
KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis did give the home crowd hope with a 50-run stand, but once they perished, LSG batters followed suit and fell like a pack of cards.
Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana picked 3 wickets each as LSG was eventually bowled out for just 137.

Mumbai Indians inched one step closer to the summit clash with an 81-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL Eliminator.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma had no doubt about unheralded Akash Madhwal's talent during his two years in the set-up and hence he was confident that the Uttarakhand player would do the job for the team if he persisted.
Madhwal, an engineer from Uttarakhand, had figures of 5 for 5 in 3.3 overs as Mumbai Indians inched one step closer to the summit clash with an 81-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL Eliminator on Wednesday.
"He was the part of the team last year as a support bowler, and once Jofra was gone and I knew he had skills and the character to do the job for us," said an impressed Rohit Sharma after his team qualified for Qualifier 2.&nbsp;
As a successful IPL captain, Rohit knows the art of man management better than most of his contemporaries.
"Over the years, we have seen many guys coming in from Mumbai Indians and playing for India. It is important to make them (youngsters) feel special and make them feel part of the team, my job is to just make them comfortable in the middle," the India captain said.
'They (youngsters like Madhwal) are very clear in their roles about what they need to do for the team and that's what you want', he said. A humble Akash Madhwal said that he has a tendency to learn things quickly because of his background as an engineer. Madhwal, who will turn 30 this November, didn't play competitive leather ball cricket till the age of 23 as he was focussing on getting his BE degree. He was a tennis ball cricketer and by the time he turned 24, Uttarakhand got BCCI affiliation and he entered the competitive cricket scenario.
So where have you been? he was asked.
"I was just practising, and waiting for this opportunity. I did my engineering and played tennis-ball cricket since it was my passion. Engineers have a tendency to learn quickly," he said with a sheepish grin.
In the last league game, he yorked Glenn Phillips and Heinrich Klaasen and on Wednesday, he bowled an unplayable delivery to Nicholas Pooran.
"I just practice, and that is what we execute. I'm proud of myself, but I'll try to be better." He has been Jasprit Bunrah's replacement for the season but he was embarrassed when asked about filling India pace spearhead's shoes.

After being knocked out of the Eliminator last season, the Lucknow Super Giants hoped of crossing that hurdle this time around, but it was not to be.
Mumbai Indians claimed their first win over LSG in the IPL as they won by 81 runs in Chennai on Wednesday.
Opting to bat, MI lost both openers with just 38 runs on the board.
Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green counter-attacked and took Mumbai over the 100-run mark.
But Naveen-ul-Haq claimed 4 wickets as LSG restricted MI to 182/8.
The men from Lucknow had a decent start and were 69/2 at one stage before the match turned on its head.
LSG lost its last 8 wickets for just 32 runs and was bowled out for a mere 101.
Akash Madhwal stood out with his maiden 5-wicket haul and gave away just 5 runs, which are the best figures by a bowler in this year's IPL. It's also the best figures ever in IPL playoffs.&nbsp;
As a result, MI entered Qualifier 2, where Rohit Sharma's men will face the Gujarat Titans on Friday.
