In its latest analysis, NLB Services highlighted a promising outlook for fresher hiring in the IT industry. The report anticipates a 15-20% increase in entry-level job opportunities, with a significant surge in demand for specialised tech roles. Areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), data analytics, Python, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity are expected to experience a 30-35% growth in hiring.
This uptick in demand extends beyond recruitment, with companies strategically prioritizing tech upskilling initiatives. Firms are investing heavily in training programs to equip their workforce with the skills required to adapt to the evolving technological landscape, the report noted.
Sectors including global capability centers (GCCs), manufacturing, BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance), healthcare, and retail are projected to increase their fresher intake by 30-35% in 2025, further fueling the growth in IT hiring.
NLB Services also highlighted the growing emphasis on campus hiring, with larger companies actively recruiting to address anticipated demand in 2024-25. While the global economic slowdown of 2021-22 had dampened discretionary spending and impacted project pipelines, the sector is expected to stabilize in 2025, signaling a revival in hiring activity.
As the reliance on emerging technologies continues to rise, the IT industry&rsquo;s focus on skill development and strategic hiring positions it for sustained growth in the coming year.

White collar hiring in India witnessed a 16 per cent decline in December compared to the year-ago period due to cautious hiring sentiments in IT, BPO, education, retail and healthcare sectors, a report said on Tuesday.
"We observed marginal sequential growth of 2 per cent in December hiring activity compared to November, driven by non-IT sectors. However, the IT sector continued to be significantly impacted pulling the overall index down by 16 per cent against last year signalling a longer wait for a complete recovery in IT hiring," Naukri.com Chief Business Officer Pawan Goyal said analysing the Naukri JobSpeak Index.
According to the Naukri JobSpeak Index, sectors like BPO, education, retail, and healthcare displayed cautious hiring sentiments, witnessing a year-on-year decline of 17 per cent, 11 per cent, 11 per cent and 10 per cent, respectively, in job offers in December.

Hiring in the IT sector reflected the trend seen in the second half of 2023, the report noted.
The sector witnessed a decline of 21 per cent in hiring during December 2023, against the same month last year and a fall of 4 per cent compared to the preceding month of November 2023.
However, full stack data scientist, IT infrastructure engineer, and automation engineer were some of the job roles that saw decent hiring despite a cautious job market for the IT industry, it added.
Although new job offers in the oil and gas sector were not spectacular in December 2023, it stayed at the level witnessed in the same month a year ago.
The Naukri JobSpeak is a monthly index representing the state of the Indian job market and hiring activity on new job listings and job-related searches by recruiters on the resume database of Naukri.com.
Meanwhile, the report found that the hospitality sector continued its growth momentum in new job offers with a 4 per cent increase in hiring compared to December last year.
The job growth for this sector is highest in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR. Senior professionals with over 16 years of experience emerged as the most sought-after candidates for hiring in the sector.
The pharma sector saw an increase of 2 per cent in hiring in December 2023 compared to the corresponding month of 2022, it said, adding that the sector experienced maximum growth in new job offers in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Mumbai.
The report also revealed that non-metro cities outshined their metro peers in terms of hiring in December 2023.
Vadodara registered a annual growth of 3 per cent in new job offers last month, the report said, adding that the growth is noticeably better than that of metros.
Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Kolkata registered declines of 24 per cent, 23 per cent, 23 per cent, 17 per cent and 16 per cent, respectively, it added.

The available EPFO data until October 2023 reveals that 9.06 million new subscribers enrolled in the Employees&rsquo; Provident Fund (EPF) from January to October, showing a decrease from the 10.1 million during the same period in the previous year.
Additionally, the data indicates an 11% drop in new young subscribers, aged 18 to 28, totaling 5.97 million in 2023 compared to 6.71 million in the corresponding period the previous year. This decline among first-time labor market entrants in this age group highlights a shift in the market's vigor.&nbsp;

Hiring activity for white-collar jobs witnessed a 12% on-year decline during October-November largely due to fall in recruitment trends in IT-Software, telecom and education sectors, a report said on Thursday.

The Naukri JobSpeak is a monthly Index representing the state of the Indian job market and hiring activity based on new job listings and job-related searches by recruiters on the resume database of Naukri.com.
While, telcom, education, retailing sectors witnessed 18%, 17% and 11% decline, respectively, during October-November compared with the same months in 2022, sectors like hospitality, travel, auto and auto ancillary the hiring trend was stagnant, the report said.
Meanwhile, Oil and Gas sectors recorded 9% increase in hiring in the October-November period compared to the last year, on the back of rapid expansion by energy companies and the setting up of new refineries across the country, the report noted.
Similarly, the Pharma sector registered a 6% increase in new job offers in the October-November against the same months of 2022, it added.
The report further revealed that the insurance sector also saw positive momentum as hiring grew by 5% in the October-November period, over the same period last year.
"It was encouraging to see core non-IT sectors like Oil and Gas, Pharma and Insurance growing at a healthy clip during a cluttered festive period. November's 1% growth in IT vs October could be a much awaited positive sign, as we eagerly await next month's trends," Naukri.com Chief Business Officer Pawan Goyal told PTI.
The overall hiring in the IT sector was 22% lower in the October-November, compared to the same months last year, it noted.
However, despite witnessing substantial corrections in the first half of 2023, the sector reported a 1% growth in November over October.
New job openings in AI-related fields like machine learning engineer and full stack data scientist increased by 64% and 16% respectively during the two months under review, compared to the year-ago period, the report said.
Meanwhile, when it came to cities the non-metros, once again, outperformed the metros in terms of hiring. Vadodara clocked a 9% growth in new job offers in the last two-months against the same period of 2022, while Ahmedabad stayed flat.
Metros like Delhi NCR and Mumbai clocked negative growth of 12% each, while the IT-focused cities of Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Pune recorded negative growth of 20%, 18%, 21%, and 18% in October-November compared to the same period of 2022.
The report also found that organisations continued to show preference for senior professionals in terms of hiring, a trend seen in most of 2023. Hiring for senior professionals with more than 16 years of experience went up by 26% in the last two months against the same months of 2022.

The data revealed a decline of 617,000 job openings, marking a decrease to 8.733 million vacancies by the end of October. This figure stands as the lowest level recorded since March 2021, sharply down from 9.350 million openings noted in September, according to the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Economists, who had anticipated approximately 9.30 million job openings for October, were taken aback by the larger-than-expected decline. Sectors like health care and social assistance experienced the steepest drops, witnessing a reduction of 236,000 unfilled positions. The finance and insurance industry saw a decrease of 168,000 openings, while real estate, rental, and leasing noted a decline of 49,000 positions. However, the information sector bucked the trend, with an increase of 39,000 job openings.
Hiring also took a hit, slipping by 18,000 to 5.886 million in October. The accommodation and food services industry, which had been a key driver of job growth during the post-pandemic recovery, experienced a notable decline of 110,000 in hiring.
Additionally, resignations fell by 18,000 to 3.628 million, holding the quits rate steady at 2.3% for the fourth consecutive month. This decline in resignations suggests a potential slowdown in wage growth and, consequently, a reduction in price pressures within the economy.
Analysts are interpreting these numbers as a sign that the Federal Reserve might halt its monetary policy tightening cycle. Despite the gradual easing of the labor market, experts remain optimistic, stating that a significant recession is improbable. Economists forecast tepid growth in the wake of economic activity cooling down in the fourth quarter. However, they anticipate a modest rise in nonfarm payrolls for November, indicating the return of approximately 33,000 striking United Auto Workers union members.
The overall sentiment among experts is cautiously optimistic, suggesting that while the labor market is easing, the situation is manageable and does not necessitate immediate recalibration. The recruited workforce will be dispersed among various key Ministries and Departments, including but not limited to the Department of Posts, the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, the Department of Atomic Energy, the Department of Revenue, the Department of Higher Education, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
This employment drive, known as the Rozgar Mela, is being organized at 46 locations throughout the nation, ensuring widespread access to job opportunities. This platform offers more than 680 e-learning courses, facilitating convenient and flexible learning experiences on any device.

The Rozgar Mela initiative was launched by Prime Minister Modi on October 22nd last year with the ambitious goal of providing 10 lakh government jobs. As reported by Union Minister BL Verma, the government has already distributed job letters to 5.5 lakh youth since the campaign's inception.
In August this year, Verma handed over appointment letters to 250 candidates out of a total of 1,000 selected for various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) such as BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB, and ITBP.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is actively participating in the Rozgar Mela by recruiting personnel across various CAPFs, including CRPF, BSF, SSB, Assam Rifles, CISF, ITBP, Narcotics Control Bureau, and Delhi Police.&nbsp;
The MHA has already fulfilled approximately one lakh posts through its Mission Recruitment, with around 87,000 of these positions being allocated within CAPFs, added Minister Verma. India's Economy Sees Remarkable Growth with 52 Million New Formal Jobs Between FY20 and FY23, According to Comprehensive Analysis of EPFO, NPS, and ESIC Data
In a recent report, it has been revealed that India experienced a substantial increase in formal employment, adding approximately 52 million new jobs between the fiscal years 2020 and 2023. This net addition of 27 million jobs was based on a comprehensive analysis of data from the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), the National Pension Scheme (NPS), and the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
Since April 2018, the Indian government has been releasing monthly payroll data from these organizations, following the recommendations outlined in the Ghosh &amp; Ghosh report.
The analysis of EPFO payroll data from the past four years indicates that the net addition of new EPF subscribers during FY20-23 was 48.6 million, encompassing fresh job entrants, rejoining or resubscribing members, and formalized payrolls. After adjusting for re-joined/re-subscribed members and formalization based on ECR data, the actual net new payroll was 22.7 million during FY20-23, as stated in a report by SBI Research.
Among these, first-time jobs accounted for 47 percent of the total net new payroll additions, while second jobs (members who re-joined or re-subscribed) amounted to 21.7 million during this period. This indicates a net increase in formalization of 4.2 million jobs during these four years, as highlighted in the report authored by the Group Chief Economic Advisor to the SBI, Soumyakanti Ghosh.
The report also cites encouraging trends in the Q1 EPFO payroll data for FY24, where 4.4 million net new EPF subscribers joined, including 1.92 million first-time payroll entrants. If this trend continues for the rest of FY24, the net new payroll could exceed 16 million, marking a historic high, with first-payroll additions ranging from 7 to 8 million.
Data from the National Pension Scheme (NPS) reveals 8.24 lakh new subscribers in FY23, with state government payrolls contributing 4.64 lakh, non-government jobs at 2.3 lakh, and 1.29 lakh in the central government.
Over the past four years, approximately 3.1 million new subscribers joined the NPS. In cumulative terms, the total payroll generation for both EPFO and NPS during FY20-23 exceeded 52 million, according to Ghosh.
Furthermore, the report notes a significant decline in the number of members rejoining or resubscribing in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, suggesting that more individuals may be opting to remain in their current employment. Additionally, women's payroll constituted around 27 percent of the total.

In a recent survey conducted by staffing firm foundit, it was revealed that despite economic uncertainties, 62% of Indian employees received a salary hike this year. This statistic might seem like a reason to celebrate, but the survey delves deeper to uncover some surprising trends.
The Appraisal Trends Report, as per Sekhar Garisa, CEO of foundit, highlighted that companies are now exploring alternative methods of recognizing their employees' efforts. Alongside traditional salary hikes, organizations are turning towards Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), bonuses, and promotions.
As per the report, the appraisal distribution across different experience levels paints a diverse picture this year. Salary hikes for entry-level professionals (0-3 years experience) reflected an interesting trend, with 62% of total respondents claiming that they did not receive any appraisal this year. 10% of them received a 5-10% hike, while 9% secured a 0-5% salary raise. &nbsp; Associate (4-6 years) level employees fared slightly better with 17% having secured a 5-10% hike, and 15% got a 10-15% salary raise. Moving up the ladder, 23% of mid-senior (7-10 years) level employees received an increment in the 5-10% range, while those in leadership roles (+16 years) emerged as the top beneficiaries, with an impressive 19% receiving increments in the 5-10% range, according to the foundit report.
Interestingly, the healthcare and Business process outsourcing and Information Technology Enabled Services sectors emerged as the frontrunners in offering appraisals, benefiting over 90% of their employees. Among healthcare workers, 29% got 5-10% hikes and 27% enjoyed a 10-15% raise. Meanwhile, in the BPO/ITES sector, 49% received 0-5% appraisals, while 26% saw a 5-10% increase.
In the Banking, Financial Services, Insurance and IT industries, employees saw appraisals in the 5-15% range. A notable 82% of those working in IT experienced a pay raise. Even the engineering/construction industry showcased growth, with 20% enjoying hikes exceeding 20%.
Despite these promising numbers, the survey suggests that many employees are still on the lookout for new opportunities. A surprising 76% of respondents said they would consider changing jobs based on their current appraisal. Within this group, 26% fell within the 5-10% increment range, showcasing the highest percentage contemplating a job switch.
The survey also highlighted that work model flexibility remains a top priority for individuals when considering a job change. This indicates that while financial rewards matter, the overall work environment and benefits package play a crucial role in retaining and attracting talent.

Job scam fraudsters are thriving in India, as hiring freeze and layoffs persist due to the tough macro-economic consitions. The fraudsters usually masquerade as employees of recruitment firms and loot candidates in the name of agency fees
In March this year, imposters posing as employees of a recruitment firm selected some 30 candidates and asked them to pay up Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh in agency fees, visa application. On receiving the amount, the imposters disappeared. Later, the candidates got in touch with the senior management of the recruitment firm, only to find out that they were duped.
In the same month, a Pune based Software engineer lost Rs 4.6 lakh in a part-time job scam. The Pune police is currently investigating the matter.
As per Economic Times, hiring firms and job sites, including Manpower, Randstad, Foundit (formerly Monster) and Adecco are on high alert to prevent conmen impersonating them and taking advantage of unsuspecting jobseekers, including the newly unemployed.
Manpower has also started several awareness campaign on social media to educate the most vulnerable. The group's president Alok Kumar also mentioned to Economic Times that the scams have nearly doubled compared to six months ago.&nbsp;
"Fraudsters are thriving. Such incidents have nearly doubled compared to six months ago", told Alok Kumar to Economic Times.&nbsp;
The publication also quoted Randstad India's director Sanjay Shetty, who said that the aggressiveness and attention to detail has grown so much since he started his career.
"The kind of attention to detail and aggressiveness we are hearing of now is something I've not seen in the last 24 years of my career," Sanjay Shetty told Economic Times.
The target audience is mostly juniors, freshers, people who've been laid off or those keen to go abroad. The fraudsters go the whole length to convince potential candidates. They conduct interviews, set up offices and even register in official websites to access the resumes.

As many as 163 Indian companies have invested more than USD 40 billion in the United States so far which has created nearly 425,000 jobs in the country, according to a survey.
The survey titled 'Indian Roots, American Soil' of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which was launched on Wednesday by India's Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu in the presence of US Ambassador-designate to India Eric Garcetti, also revealed that Indian companies spent nearly USD 185 million as corporate social responsibility in the United States and their financing of US-based Research and Development (R&amp;D) projects is nearly USD 1 billion.
The top ten states benefiting from jobs created by Indian companies are Texas (20,906 jobs), New York (19,162 jobs), New Jersey (17,713 jobs), Washington (14,525 jobs), Florida (14,418 jobs), California (14,334 jobs), Georgia (13,945 jobs), Ohio (12,188 jobs), Montana (9,603 jobs), Illinois (8,454 jobs).
The top ten states with the most reported FDI from Indian companies were Texas (USD 9.8 billion), Georgia (USD 7.5 billion), New Jersey (USD 4.2 billion), New York (USD 2.1 billion), Massachusetts (USD 1.4 billion), Kentucky (USD 908 million), California (USD 776 million), Maryland (USD 720 million), Florida (USD 711 million) and Indiana (582 million).
According to the report, 85 per cent of the companies plan to make more investments in the United States in the next few years and 83 per cent of the companies plan to hire more employees in the US in the next five years.

A US woman has reapplied for job at her current organisation after finding out that the company is offering her position at a higher salary following a new salary transparency law.
New York's Kimberly Ngyun who is a contractual UX writer with Citigroup wrote in a social media post that her current employer posted a job on LinkedIn for the same role as hers, intending to offer compensation between $32,000 (Rs 26 lakh) and $90,000 (Rs 74 lakh), which is more than what she gets.
Kimberly told US media that she currently earns $85,000 (Rs 64 lakh) a year as a contractor.
After noticing the job post, Kimberly informed other UX writers and raised the issue with HR who told her that the company has no control over contractor salaries.
She also claimed in her post that she raised the issue of pay inequity even before but to no avail, adding that she was now looking for a new job.
Meanwhile Citigroup told US media that contractual workers are being paid as per market-competitive rates and after NYC brought in salary trasparency law in November they were criticised for offering certain positions between $0 to $2 million.

Companies also said that employees were less stressed and had better work-life balance.&nbsp; What was the study?&nbsp; In June 2022, a think tank based in the UK started a pilot program to test out four-day work weeks in the corporate sector. The study, was conducted by a UK advocacy group called 4-Day Week Global.
What did this study involve?&nbsp; The study involved 2,900 workers from 61 companies across industries in the UK. The program was carried out between June to December 2022. Employees at the participating companies across Britain worked an average of 34 hours across four days between June and December 2022 while earning their current salary.&nbsp; What did the study show? Of the participating 61, 56 companies, or 92 percent, opted to continue with the 4-day work week.&nbsp;
The report published also said that employee stress and burnout significantly declined, with 71 percent of employees reporting lower levels of burnout, 39% reported they were less stressed and 48% were more satisfied with their job as compared to before the trial. Reported anxiety, fatigue and sleep issues decreased, while mental and physical health both experienced improvements.

The Indian Express has reported that over 20 women are alleged to have been taken to former Chief Secretary of Andaman &amp; Nicobar Islands, Jitendra Narain&rsquo;s house in Port Blair during his tenure and and some of them are said to have got jobs in lieu of being sexually exploited.
Investigators told the newspaper that police has found evidence and recorded key witness statements pointing to an alleged job-for-sex racket.&nbsp;
Narain, and former Labour Commissioner R L Rishi have been accused of sexual exploitation by a 21-year-old woman leading to the formation of Special Investigation Team which is probing the case.&nbsp;
Narain is expected to appear before the SIT on October 28, the last date set for his appearance by the Calcutta High Court.
 Senior police officers in Port Blair confirmed to The Indian Express that call data records of mobile phones of the two bureaucrats, and of the 21-year-old 'match' the alleged sequence of events on two dates, as provided by the woman.
Sources have also confirmed to the newspaper that the hard disk of the CCTV camera system installed at Narain&rsquo;s house was first erased and, subsequently, removed at the time of his transfer from Port Blair to Delhi in July.
Denying the charges, Narain, in letters to the Home Ministry and the island administration, has said there is a &ldquo;conspiracy&rdquo; against him and claimed that he has &ldquo;specific materials which demonstrate the fake nature of the case.&rdquo;
He has challenged his presence in Port Blair on one of the two dates given in the FIR and cited air tickets and appointment schedules to show his presence in New Delhi.&nbsp;
Narain was suspended on orders of the Home Ministry on October 17 and has got interim bail until November 14. Rishi has also been suspended and non-bailable warrants have been issued in his name after his bail plea was rejected in Port Blair.
