The incident took place when the police had gone to a house in search of an accused, who is also the grandfather of the child. On seeing the police, all family members reportedly fled leaving the newborn alone in the house.
The mother of the infant said that while the policemen were searching the house, her four-day-old child was sleeping inside. She said she found her child dead after returning home once the police had left.&nbsp;
The family has alleges that the child was trampled to death by the policemen.
The police say they sent a baby's body for postmortem and action will be taken based on the report.&nbsp;

Nearly 4,000 birds, including chickens and ducks, will be culled in Jharkhand's Bokaro district after a bird flu outbreak was reported at a state-run poultry farm, an official said on Saturday.
H5N1, a type of avian influenza virus, was confirmed among a protein-rich breed of chicken, 'Kadaknath', at the farm in the Lohanchal where 800 birds died and 103 had to be culled, he said.
"A total of 3,856 birds, including chickens and ducks, have been identified for culling in the affected area -- 1 km radius of the farm," Institute of Animal Health &amp; Production director Dr Bipin Bihari Mahtha told PTI.
After birds started to die at the farm on February 2, samples were sent to the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases in Bhopal for testing and the flu was confirmed, he said.
A process has been started to determine the compensation for the people whose chicken and ducks will be culled, he added.
The district administration has already declared areas within 1 km radius of the farm as the affected zone, while areas within 10 km radius have been declared surveillance zone. It also banned the sale of chicken and ducks in the district.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Arun Kumar Singh earlier said the state was on an alert.
A medical team was formed to monitor the border areas of the district, and for the sampling of chickens and ducks at large farms. Besides, it has also been asked to collect samples of people living in the affected zone.
A separate ward has been set up at the Sadar Hospital for people infected with bird flu.
Symptoms of the infection among humans include severe upper back pain, fever, cough, shortness of breath, cold and blood in the sputum, officials said.
The Animal Husbandry Department issued an advisory, urging people to inform it if they see dead birds.

The husband of Jharkhand actor Riya Kumari was on Thursday arrested for allegedly murdering her, police said.
Riya Kumari, who goes by the screen name of Isha Alya, was shot dead on National Highway 16 in West Bengal's Howrah district in the early hours of Wednesday when she was heading to Kolkata along with her husband Prakash Kumar and two-year-old daughter, they said.
Prakash had told the police that she was killed by a group of robbers who attacked them when he stopped the car to relieve himself near Mahishrekha in Bagnan police station area.

Police said they arrested him after interrogation and on the basis of a complaint lodged by Riya Kumar's family on Wednesday night.
He has been booked under sections 302 (murder), 201 (giving false information), 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and various sections of the Arms Act, police said.
A hunt is on for others involved in the case, they said.
Riya Kumari, a native of Hazaribag in Jharkhand, was a popular face in Nagpuri music videos on YouTube, besides acting in a few Nagpuri films. Known to be very soft-spoken in the film industry, she lived in Ranchi's Morabadi area.
The husband, who identified himself as a producer, told the police that a gang of three men attacked him around around 6 am, trying to rob his belongings. When his wife rushed to rescue him, they shot her and fled the spot immediately.
He also told police that he took his wife to the vehicle and drove about 3 km in search of help. When he saw some people along the highway in Kulgachia-Pirtala, he narrated the incident to them.
These locals helped Kumar take his wife to the SCC Medical College and Hospital in Uluberia where doctors declared her brought dead, police said.

Forest officials believe that the same leopard is responsible for all 3 deaths.

On 14 December, a 6-year-old had been killed by a wild cat in Rodo village. On 10 December, a 12-year-old girl had been mauled to death in Chipadohar area.
Forest officials believe that the same leopard is responsible for all 3 deaths. A decision is being taken on whether to declare the leopard a man-eater.

Mining lease row: SC allows appeals of Jharkhand govt, Hemant Soren; set aside HC order

The JMM leader has been accused of granting himself a mining lease as the state's mining minister.

The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the appeals of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the state government against a high court order accepting the maintainability of PILs for a probe in the mining lease issue. It also set aside the Jharkhand High Court's June 3 order.
The JMM leader has been accused of granting himself a mining lease as the state's mining minister.
&ldquo;We have allowed these two appeals and have set aside the June 3, 2022 order passed by the Jharkhand High Court, holding that these PILs were not maintainable,&rdquo; the bench said.
A bench of Justices U U Lalit, S R Bhat and Sudhanshu Dhulia had reserved its judgement on August 17 on separate pleas of the Jharkhand government and Soren against the high court&rsquo;s order that accepted the maintainability of the PILs.
The apex court had earlier restrained the high court from proceedings with the PILs seeking a probe against Soren in the mining lease issue.

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren summoned by ED in money laundering case

The agency wants to question and record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they said.

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren for questioning on November 3 in a money laundering case linked to alleged illegal mining in the state, officials said on Wednesday.
Soren, 47, has been asked to appear before the federal probe agency at its regional office in state capital Ranchi on Thursday.
The agency wants to question and record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they said.
The ED had earlier arrested his political aide Pankaj Mishra and two others in this case.
The agency has said it has "identified" proceeds of crimes relating to illegal mining in the state to the tune of more than Rs 1,000 crore till now.
The ED probe began after the agency raided Mishra and his alleged associates on July 8, covering 19 locations in Sahibganj, Barhait, Rajmahal, Mirza Chauki and Barharwa in Jharkhand in the case linked to alleged instances of illegal mining and extortion.&nbsp;

The woman, who works in well-known IT company, was travelling with her male friend when they were stopped by a group of people. The couple was beaten up, and then the woman was allegedly gangraped.
Police arrested 7 people after interrogating some locals who frequent the incident spot. The woman's wallet and mobile phones were recovered from those arrested.

26-year-old techie allegedly gang-raped in Jharkhand, 12 detained

Twelve people were detained for interrogation in connection with the incident, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Sadar) Dilip Khalko said.

A 26-year-old software engineer was allegedly raped by around 10 men in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, police said on Saturday.
The woman, who works at a well-known IT company and is here as she is working from home, was out with her boyfriend on a two-wheeler on Thursday evening when the incident took place near the old aerodrome in Chaibasa, they said.
A group of eight-ten men stopped the couple, beat the boyfriend up and allegedly raped the woman after taking her to a secluded spot, police said.
Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said that a case was registered at the Muffasil police station and an investigation was underway to identify those behind the incident.
Twelve people were detained for interrogation in connection with the incident, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Sadar) Dilip Khalko said.
After raping her, the accused left her at the spot and fled. They also took away her wallet and mobile phone.
The woman somehow managed to reach home, and told her family about the incident after which they filed a police complaint.
Her medical check-up was conducted at the Sadar Hospital.
The BJP demanded Chief Minister Hemant Soren's resignation over the incident.
Soren's government is absolutely insensitive towards the incidents of rape that have happened in the state over the last three years, former chief minister Raghubar Das of the BJP told PTI.
A sense of insecurity is prevailing among the people of the state as law and order has completely broken down, he claimed.
"Soren, who is also facing corruption charges with uncertainty looming large over his tenure, should immediately resign on moral ground as Jharkhand in becoming the rape capital," he added.
The ruling JMM said that those accused of the gang rape in Chaibasa will not be spared, and police are working to ensure stringent punishment against them.
"The state government has been taking prompt action in such cases and will do it in the Chaibasa incident as well," JMM spokesperson Mohan Karmakar said, rejecting the BJP's allegations as an attempt to tarnish Soren's image.
BJP is nervous over the overwhelming support the Soren government is getting for its welfare programmes, he claimed.
"The government is making all possible efforts to further strengthen the police department," Karmakar said

District superintendent of police, Manoj Ratan Chothe said a case of murder has been registered against four persons, including the recovery agent and manager of the private finance company.
A special investigation team headed by the deputy superintendent of police (HQ) Rajeev Kumar was formed to arrest those involved, the SP old reporters.
Mehta had told the police that he had received a message on his mobile phone on Thursday from Mahindra Finance Company, from which he had taken a loan for buying the tractor, that he should pay his outstanding dues amounting Rs 1.3 lakh immediately.
The company communication had also threatened to take away the tractor, which was parked at a nearby petrol pump on NH-33, unless the money was paid. The man had immediately rushed to the spot after receiving the message and found the recovery agent already driving away the tractor, the SP said. He ran after the moving tractor and told the recovery agent that he was willing to pay Rs 1.2 lakh immediately but the man insisted that the entire due should be cleared before he got back the possession of the equipment.
As the recovery agent refused to listen to the man's pleas and kept driving away the tractor, his pregnant daughter, who had reached the spot, ran after it and was crushed to death under its wheels, the SP said.
A large number of villagers, mostly women, demonstrated in front of the Hazaribagh collectorate with the body on Friday and demanded the immediate arrest of the manager and recovery agent of the finance company.
They also demanded Rs 20 lakh compensation to the victim's family.
The agitation was lifted two hours after the police assured them that all the culprits will be arrested soon.
The managing director and chief executive officer of Mahindra group, Anish Shah in a statement on Friday said "We are deeply saddned and disturbed by the Hazaribagh incident ... We stand with the family in this moment of grief." He assured to investigate the incident from all aspects and also undertake an examination of the practice of using third party collection agencies that has been in existence.
"We will extend all possible support to the authorities during the investigation into this tragic incident," the statement added.

Jharkhand CM has alleged that the opposition BJP is attempting horse-trading to destabilise the government in the state.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren-led ruling coalition in Jharkhand won a majority test in a special session of the assembly.&nbsp;
The confidence motion moved by Soren received 48 votes in favour in the 81-member house amid a boycott by the Opposition BJP, its ally AJSU Party, and two independents.
In his address to the house, Jharkhand CM alleged that the BJP is attempting horse-trading to destabilise the government in the state. Slamming the saffron party, Soren said that the opposition is creating an atmosphere of civil war.&nbsp;
The floor test was held even as uncertainty continued over the CM's political future and that of the ruling coalition.
The political crisis emerged in the state after BJP levelled corruption charges against Soren for allocating a mining lease to himself in 2021 and sought his resignation as an MLA.
In February this year, the BJP submitted a memorandum to the state Governor Ramesh Bais seeking disqualification of Soren from the House under Section 9(A) of the Representation of People's Act.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Jharkhand police on Wednesday arrested suspended BJP leader Seema Patra, wife of a retired IAS officer, on allegations of torturing her 29-year-old tribal help Sunita, police sources said.
Acting on a tip-off from a government employee, the Ranchi Police had rescued the woman from Patra's residence last week and recorded the domestic help' statement on Tuesday before a magistrate, sources said.
Patra had allegedly kept the woman captive in her residence in Ranchi's posh Ashok Nagar area for several years.
Patra was suspended by BJP after a video of the woman, Sunita, narrating her ordeal, went viral on social media with demands for Patra's arrest.
Governor Ramesh Bais too on Tuesday asked DGP Neeraj Sinha as to why no action has been taken against suspended BJP leader.
Members of various tribal outfits visited Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) where the woman is undergoing treatment and met her on Tuesday.&nbsp;

A video of the house help, identified as Sunita, has gone viral on social media. The viral video showed the victim lying on the hospital bed, with &nbsp;bruises all over her body and several of her teeths missing. The woman, speaking through immense pain, recalled that she was beaten up with a hot tawa and rods.&nbsp;
According to media reports, Sunita was employed by the accused family 10 years ago. She moved to <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/politics/aap-mlas-to-spend-night-at-delhi-assembly-to-seek-probe-against-lg-vk-saxena-in-1-400-crore-scam-1661794017470">Delhi</a> as a help with Patra&rsquo;s daughter. Protests have erupted in Jharkhand's Dumka after a girl who was allegedly set on fire by a man for turning down his proposal died on Sunday. 
The police have imposed Section 144 prohibiting any large gatherings in the area. 
The incident happened in Dumka town on August 23 when the accused, identified as Shahrukh, allegedly poured petrol on the woman from outside the window of her room when she was sleeping and set her on fire, the police said.
The woman, a student of Class 12, had been first admitted to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in Dumka in critical condition with 90 per cent burns.
Later, she was referred to Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) for better treatment, the police said.
The accused was arrested on August 23 itself. 
According to the statement given to an executive magistrate, the woman had said that the accused called her on her mobile around 10 days back pestering her to become his friend.
“He called me again around 8 pm on Monday and told me that he would kill me if I did not talk to him. I informed my father about the threat after which he assured me that he would talk to the man’s family on Tuesday. After having our dinner, we went to sleep. I was sleeping in another room.
“On Tuesday morning, I experienced a sensation of pain on my back and could smell something burning. I found him running away when I opened my eyes. I started screaming in pain and went to my father’s room. My parents doused the fire and took me to the hospital,” the woman had spoken with great difficulty while the police recorded her statement.

Amid reports of disqualification as an MLA by Election Commission, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has said he hasn't been informed by the poll body in the matter. He accused the BJP of 'recommending his disqualification as an MLA'. 
"Seema liks BJP leaders includign an MP and his puppet journalists have themselves drafted ECI report, which is ususally a sealed report," Soren said in a statement
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey earlier in the day demanded mid-term polls claiming that EC has written to Governor Ramesh Bais suggesting disqualification of CM Hemant Soren from the Jharkhand Assembly. "There should be polls in all 81 constituencies on moral grounds," the MP demanded
Quoting sources, news agency ANI reported that Jharkhand Raj Bhavan has received EC's word on CM in connection with 'office of profit' matter.

 The Enforcement Directorate raided multiple locations in Jharkhand on Wednesday and recovered 2 AK series assault rifles as part of an ongoing money-laundering investigation into alleged illegal mining in the state, official sources said.
The weapons were kept in an almirah at a home in Ranchi, they said.
The sources identified the premises to be linked to a person -- Prem Prakash -- involved in the case.
The federal probe agency is covering about 17-20 premises in Jharkhand, neighbouring Bihar, Tamil Nadu and the Delhi-NCR as part of the operation.
The searches were carried out after fresh information came to the fore following the questioning of Pankaj Mishra, a political aide of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and Mishra's associate and muscleman Bachhu Yadav, the sources said.
Both Mishra and Yadav were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in this case sometime ago.
The ED probe began after the agency raided Mishra and his alleged associates on July 8, covering 19 locations in Sahibganj, Barhet, Rajmahal, Mirza Chauki and Barharwa in Jharkhand in the case linked to alleged instances of illegal mining and extortion.
The searches were launched after the ED filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Mishra and others in March, alleging that the former "illegally grabbed or amassed huge assets in his favour".
Soon after the July raids, the ED seized funds amounting to Rs 13.32 crore lying in 50 bank accounts.
"The evidence collected during the course of the investigation, including the statements of various persons, digital evidence and documents, revealed that the seized cash or bank balance is derived from illegal mining being rampantly done in the Sahibganj area, including the forest area," the agency had said.
It had said it was probing the trail of Rs 100 crore of "proceeds of crime" generated from illegal mining operations in Jharkhand.
