Jharkhand: ruling alliance MLAs flown out amid poaching fears over Hemant Soren's EC trouble

In a sign that political uncertainty in Jharkhand is intensifying, MLAs of the ruling alliance were being flown out of the state to Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh. MLAs were seen arriving at the Ranchi airport in a bus.

The coalition of Jharkhand Mukti Morch (JMM), Congress, and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) appears to be fearing poaching attempts by Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

This comes after reports suggested that the Election Commission (EC) had recommended Chief Minister Hemant Soren's disqualification as an MLA. The recommendation has been sent to Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais, who has not announced his decision yet.

Soren is in trouble over an 'office of profit' charge for allegedly holding a mining lease over a plot of land near Ranchi. The JMM leader has accused the BJP of misusing constitutional authorities.
